WWI Lorry Conversion (1 Viewer)

Thought I’d post a few pics of a WWI lorry I’ve been working on.

The original vehicle was a 1/30 scale ERTL piggy bank. Some chopping, sanding, and a few bits of balsa and styrene and the lorry is now ready to move some weary mud crunchers to the front.

Very good mate turned out brilliant.
I have seen these but do not have the skill like yourself to transform them.

What a great conversion…I know I have one of these somewhere along with some old white metal Scale Link lorry parts. These could really dress it up!

A few more ideas using this time the Mack truck from Franklin Mint. The idea came from a WW1 Amrican Army Mack truck that First Gear many years ago offered....But then for some reason they did not extend the line with other models..later JDD did offer a few ideas even with a tank transporter..but the truck was not metal and made out of the special resin/high tech plastic...so that put me off....until I came across these Macks from Fankiln Mint and took a stab at thinking outside the box...again this was only possible due to John´s expertise....Here are pics of the set as it came from the box and how they now look..Sorry for the low quality pics as I just came in from work and thought I would share the exercise before I forgot.....Cheers

As for a driver, try Scalelink...they have worked very well indeed in my case....

Hi, is this the Cursor 1/35 model? It does look really good, like the painted finish and the figures of cause. Thank you for sharing

Yes! You have quite an eye for details...I was lucky to some years ago spot two Cursor trucks and lay my hands on them...one did not have a canvas cover and the other did....I immediately saw there potential as mechanized transport for the German army as they were WW1 materiale and I had no vehicles in the German collection...The one offered German truck offered by JDD, and the Kaiser camper made by K&C were made out of resin and I have to say I am not a very big fan of vehicles made out of that....Unfortuntaley for a lot of WW2 mechanized materiale we end up having to cave in and use, but since I was working on my WW1 series these Cursor trucks fit like a glove, and as usual John captured the spirit of period pictures on these two great vehicles. It is a pitty that the limited literature I was able to obtain about Cursor is that it was/is a company in Germany and at one point did a limited run on German trucks on the 1:35 scale. That I can recall there was one articulated one that carried logs ( nearly got hold of one ), there were these two and a fourth one that was a pannel truck ( did not get that one as the cargo loading area did not open ). Wish these were around still, but it has been years since I last saw them....The last ones I saw were a bit damaged and I figured they would be complicated to restore to a operational level.
