Grille tank on the move

Really enjoying the BOB scenes. Just recently got a couple of these items and looking forward to getting more in future. I was wondering if a 2 1/2 ton truck had been done previously and there it is in your photos. How scarce are those now, and how about the riders in the back as well. Thanks for the great photos.

Just my opinion Sammy; some snaps lend themselves well to the B&W treatment - especially those depicting the Bulge. It tends to add to the bleakness and feeling of cold misery for all concerned.

Cheers

Agree with Harry on the B&Ws. Gives it a bleakness with that "I'm freezing my keister off" feel.

I prefer color usually but some black & white shots are effective, especially when the contrast is adjusted to true black and white to avoid the over exposed look after the color is removed.

H, I remember when you were first introducing this dio., being really impressed with the rutted icy/muddy tank track effects and the icy/muddy foot paths. If I ever attempt to make a winter diorama base I intend to try and recreate the effect. And yes, the B&W looks great with these cold and bleak looking scenes.

Thanks MD.
As a novice at this kind of thing, I find Winter dios pretty easy to do. Any real SNAFU's I make are simply disguised with snow....:eek::D
I think I posted a kind-of step by step guide in the "How-To; Dioramas Section" on recreating that particular wintery scene.
As for photography, it really depends on what mood, affect, or atmosphere you're trying to put across. Rather than posting a straightforward snap, there's all kinds of interesting software effects you can apply to your pictures to make them that little bit different. You can even make your photos resemble some of the film effects in SPR and BOB's.
One way to get that authentic gritty and overexposed look that recreates so many WWI or WWII combat photos is to really go to town and strongly emphasise the contrast and sharpness, then change to B&W, apply a Sepia effect, then change back to colour. Repeat the process a few times if you like until you've achieved that washed out but sharp look, then post it to obtain other members positive or indeed, negative feedback.
I really liked the original Battle of the Bulge photos that I took recently, but applying some effects made them even more striking in my opinion, cos the additional software effects seems to amplify the shear bleakness of the conflict that ordinary people were caught up in. The complete lack of any kind of backdrop also focusses the viewers attention on the ruined tank and the figures.
What do you guy's think of the before and after photos I'm posting below, Dave, Saber, Sammy....??

Just keep snapping away Sammy and try a few different things. Look forward to seeing more of your photos.
