After seeing Currahee Chris's most enjoyable Laying siege to Cinderella's castle! diorama, thought I'd share some of my old knights purchased in the late 70s/early 80s. In looking at their bases, they were made in England under the name, Britains Ltd 1971, Deetail. Purchased in an amazing little mall toy shop back in the day, I still remember going into the store eyes glazed as I looked at the glass cases with toy soldiers and die cast vehicles envisioning what I might ask for Christmas. The store also had a large exterior window that displayed other wonderful toys like Playmobil and LGB. I'm really glad to still have these knights that my best friend and I played with for days. How fun!

WOW!! What a tremendous compliment! It's funny how we have all gotten so high tech with our computers and cameras and cellphones but at the end of the day, it was jsut something simple and an active imagination that took us to the best places.

I am hoping to find my 9th birthday pictures when I Got this giant Godzilla toy with a launching fist and the "Guns of Navaronne" playset. Me and my buddies tore into that stuff and had some pretty epic battles.

BTW- My favorite pic is the knight with the lightning bolts- while it probably isn't a great idea to be outside in full plate metal in a lighting storm, the pic itself looks METAL AF!!! 🤘🤘

These scenes take me back, makes me wish I’d kept all my Timpo and Britains from back then.
If we only knew, but at least we had fun.

Hey Chris, reading your message made me chuckle. Never got the Launching Fist Godzilla, but I still have my Mazinga Showgun Warrior.
Here's Fort Navarone:

Sounds like we grew up in the same era. Think I was wearing 70s cammo to hide on the couch. Fun times! :)

Ha ha- oh man!!! WOW!!! Yeah, we must definitely be around the same age- I remember Mazinga! And your GoN playset box and the sweater just complete the nostalgia motif- I spy what looks like a lego set on the couch there buried under the boxes of board games.

You got it, Chris. Lego's Brick Yard as well as another set. What a great Christmas it was!

in a series of events where life mimics hobby, a buddy of mine is friends with my wife on FB and posted an anime pic of Mazinga and asked his FB audience to identify the character, that was an easy win for me thanks to your picture.

And yes, I did miss that but you are 100% correct- that sweater would have been the PERFECT Camo for that couch- man alive I don't think Santa could have gotten that any closer!!!

Both funny, Chris. Around the corner from that room was the kitchen with "harvest gold" appliances. Everything was brown and gold in addition to my collection of corduroys. 😄

WOW, I counted Three Lego sets there plus some toy soldier stuff etc, that's a good Xmas haul. As for the fancy 'Sweater' with the buttons, we'd call that a 'Cardigan' in Australia, you don't see them very often these days.

Hey Matt, Christmases that we'll never forget. In addition to the wonderful gifts, we had big family get togethers that were a lot of fun.

Ahhh Brings back fond childhood memories for me those Britains Knights. My parents gifted me a wooden Castle Fort, and with it came a number of Britains Knights. Later I bought some of their American Civil War figures and napoleonic figures. Sweet Nostalgia.

Britains also did issue the Herald Trojans, some were "Hong Kong" Production, the ones on matt Green Plastic bases. Recently I bought the Trojan Chariot Online, a real find today in good condition.
