Yeomanry Miniatures (2 Viewers)

Yeoman here again!

Having read all your comments regarding my Yeomanry Miniatures figures and the links to Toy Army Workshop, I have decided to expand my World at War Range by bringing out some TAW Lookalikes. The first items in this area are some dismounted Cavalry figures in winter dress. The Officer is wearing a Camel Hair Coat and walking with his cane and his Orderly Trumpeter is carrying the Officer's kit and a spade. The next items will be a walking Hotchkiss machine gunner and his loader and they will be closely followed by some troopers. All castings come with seperate bases and a choice of heads, either the staff pattern forage cap (peaked cap), trench cap, or steel helmet. I am attaching pictures of the figures available now showing the first pair in steel helmets and a pair with the Officer in peaked cap and the Trumpeter in trench cap. I hope you like them.

The next offering will be a model "T" Ford of the Australian light car squadron in Mesopotamia and will include the driver, Lewis gunner, and Commander. This is in the final stages of development and will be available soon.

Regards to all,

Lovely model . . . unfortunately, the design is that of a "one-of" made by a British territorial machine gun section and not the design used by the Light Car Patrol. I'm presently working on a 1:32 scale di-cast conversion based on actual photos. Hope to finish it in a month or so . . . fitting the pieces has been a bit more of a chore than I expected.

This model is based on photos of the Australian Light Car Patrol to be found in the Time Life book "The Australian Light Horse" from the Australia at War series. Trooper

Al having read your post I contacted Trooper, who has made the masters for Yeomanry Miniatures, and he informs me that he has based the model on photographs of the Light Car Patrol to be found in the book "The Australian Light Horse" by Ian James. Knowing Trooper's penchant for getting things right I would not presume to contradict his accuracy. Indeed I am currently awaiting the delivery of both the masters (from Trooper)and a copy of the book (from Amazon) and will not make any further comments until I am able to verify the situation for myself.

If someone would be so kind as to tell me how to attach JPGs, I'll be glad to upload images. I've been researching this project for a couple of years and am pretty confident that I'm correct. Don't believe everyting you read in books!

It is a fantastic idea to have the Ford Model T back, it not only saw action in the Middle East but in the Western Front and with the US Marines in the South American back roads in support of Teddy´s Gun Boat Policy12527.jpg. I recall TAW had quite a few options for us for both theaters and I did buy one at the time.

Hi Louis

Glad you liked the new model. I have only seen the pictures posted by Trooper so far but if you would like to send your details to "yeomanryminiatures@virginmedia.com" I will be more than happy to let you have the first painted production model with a certificate to verify that it is the first car produced!

You can pencil me in for one of these beauties(fully painted).:smile2:

That is one of the photos from "The Austalian Light Horse" on which the model is based. Trooper

I am a computer nerd, but it is amazing the stuff I can find for reference and information over whether a piece is accurate or not. Problem is, if I can find it, why can't most mfg. or members find it when they do their research. Good for you folks, but shame on the big time mfgs. that all too often, mess up their models...Michael

Hi Michael,
That is true. Some time ago King & Country released a very nice WW1 Artillery set. Really nice, it even came with the option to add an extra artillery officer..... But then, came the major blunder on the historical research...really big time. They gave the gun garrison early war infantry helmets and not the artillery helmets, but the add on artillery officer had the correct helmet and uniform......:confused:{sm2}
Below I addd a photo of the Britains Premier Artillery set " with the correct helmets" and the K&C one with the wrong helmets.Had they done a very simple research the issue would have been avoided, see some pages of reference books that show it....

Gents...let's keep this thread about Yeomantry and not a debate over the research of other companies!

Nice stuff, by the way!

I am sending my information immediately after this post. Thank you very much for your kind offer. I will be honored to display the first of these beautiful models alongside a WWI desert 17 lb field gun and crew by Toy Army Workshop.:smile2:

Hi Louis,
That is a great idea and your Middle East " 18 pdr and garrison" with a very nice Ford Model T scout car like the one Yeomanry Miniatures is about to launch will be a great diorama...do not forget to add to the set your Rolls Armoured Cars.....If I am not mistaken you have a couple with Middle East body painting.
