You couldn't make it up! (1 Viewer)

Absolutely pathetic isn't it. Mean spirited, money grabbing robbers the lot of them. They had a guy on tv this morning from the council involved. He said people are being pushed out of the Park by those doing Yoga and Pilates!!!! Are you kidding me?!. ' officer officer I've been pushed out of the park by half a dozen people stretching in leotards'!.What a load of Horse****. Perhaps they should concentrate on keeping out the Drunks, yobs and pervs and leave the people who are trying to take exercise alone.

When people balk at taxes to support public parks, they get "fees." I pay a yearly fee to park my car at local beaches but it's a bargain as I use them a lot. Non residents pay up to 20 USD a day. Of course the money goes to lifeguards and maintenance. At the beach I'm also not allowed to drink alcohol (openly) and have to follow the safety rules.

I'm sure some nutcase politicians is going to get wind of this over here and it will happen here too!!

My favorite is the bunny costumes and psychological damage to animals. Isn't being in a zoo damage enough? Now, there are some bunny costumes worth seeing.... -- Al

Pity they don't charge for the policing of all these demonstration marches. Trooper

What next?. Charging kids for playing the park?. Charging us for swimming in the Sea perhaps?. A walking up Hills Tax perhaps?. Admiring a countryside vista charge?.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask

".....But a council spokeswoman said: "This is about ensuring residents using the park are safe, as there are issues surrounding insurance and liability should anyone be injured, and also the parks have to be maintained.

"If trainers were to hire space elsewhere in a club, for example, they would spend much more than if they bought a licence."

Meanwhile, the council has introduced a charge of £1,200 per year to large commercial sports organisations wishing to use its parks."

who's paying for this royal wedding coming up?

its all ridiculous. where ever they can...

"and my advice for those that die
declare the pennies on your eyes"

George Harrison predicted this all in 1966 on side one, song one of the Revolver album. "If you drive a car- I'll tax the street, If you try to sit- I'll tax the seat, If you get to cold- I'll tax the heat, IF YOU TAKE A WALK- I'll tax your feet. Taxman!"

Wecome to the land of the free. Free speech? Use the wrong word and you will be submerged in a horde of salivating sandalistas accusing you of being racist, sexist, ageist or of condoning any other ism they can think of. Freedom of choice? Drive a large car and the green enthusiasts accuse you of destroying the planet, causing flooding and leaving a trail of slaughtered children in your wake. Do you enjoy the view of the countryside from your window? Tough. It is absolutely imperative that every square foot must be covered by huge bird mincing wind machines that cost a small fortune, only operate if the breeze is right and deliver just about enough power to charge a small electric toothbrush (but only one per 1000 head of population) Want to defend yourself, your family or your property against attack? Lay one finger on the assailant and you will end up in court accused of using undue force and assault. Want to express an opinion? Don't even try,you will be wrong and again subjected to accusations by the "caring" vigilantes who make a profession of searching for anything that can be twisted to their advantage. I could go on but why should I depress you all further? Trooper

The royal family is with the exception of the extra security is what I have heard and with respect I would hardly call it ridiculous !:(

i don't know the arrangements the royal family has with UK tax payers. do they pay for their own military details? like the ones to be marching in the wedding procession?

are they compensating small businesses along that route who may not be able to open?

i only ask because my shop would be suddenly inaccessible due to NYC allowing permits to be issued for hollywood film makers to shoot on our block without notifying us. we had absolutely no recourse.

Gideon....

Thats why its a public holiday firstly so the majority of the world can enjoy the wedding and all the pomp and ceremony that is associated with these events. Although the roads may be closed many shops who wish to take advantage of the fact that the streets normally quiet will be packed will be doing a rather good business.

Ridiculous indeed... of to the tower with you
Mitch

That's really not acceptable is it, they should at least have the courtesy to inform you.

It's not such an issue with the Royal Wedding route as it passes mainly Historic buildings to do with government or Monarchy etc, not too many shopkeepers affected I don't think.

These ceremonies have been carried out over the same route for more than three hundred years, so I don't think a shop keeper could claim they weren't expecting something to happen^&grin Plus, Friday has been made a bank holiday so that everyone can have the day off. As to the military element, British soldiers are payed a daily rate of pay so would be payed whether parading or not.
