Your collection; Mainly early,mid or late War? (1 Viewer)

Guys what period of the War most reflects your K&C collection?. I guess for me with Bulge,Normandy and Arnhem I lean towards the late war releases except of course the Battle of Britain which is firmly in the early war section. Do any of you stick firmly to one time period or a more scatter gun approach?.

Currently my main diorama on WW2 a 3 by 4 four foot display table is on the Battle of the Bulge circa December 16, 1944. I also have a smaller diorama of D-Day with mainly US Army First Infantry Division troops atttacking a German Army Bunker on a small bluff. All K&C sets used. I had a fairly large display nearly 10 years ago of the Battle of Iwo Jima including at first both sections of K&C's "Island of Iwo Jima" with it's cave's & tunnels + two landing boats. But over time I sold off all of these IWJ sets by K&C. I am waiting for more "ACTION" D-Day US Army sets sometime in 2011!

Yes sorry I did mean WW2 .Your dio's sound excellent. Yes more D Day in 2011 will be most welcome, although I've still to get myself one of those excellent US Landing craft yet.

Thanks for reply back. I ended up trading the K&C IWJ or perhaps they were D-Day sets of the small landing boats in for something else in circa 2005. What a fool I was, I could have made a big profit by selling them on eBay! Well, I can not complain too much as I have made enough profits on many K&C sets I have sold on eBay to make up for my losses on assorted non-K&C sets sold on eBay.

For me it's concentrated in North Afrika 1941-42, France 1940 , Western Front 1944 and Eastern Front 1944-45. No concentration on D-Day or the air war and many of the Bulge AFVs are used in Eastern Front scenarios.

Must say your Iwo dio with tunnels sounds really good. I never purchased any US Marine or Japenese figures but only because money is limited, have great respect for what the Marines did in the Pacific. Thats the only problem I have with collecting, I can't afford everything!

Why would you, someone with no willpower and hundreds of ranges ask me a question like that? I already don't collect Arnhem, the D-Day landing, IWJ, LAH, Battle of Britain. So you have already seen my reduced list. But if I did have to choose, it would be North Afrika.

Easy one for me- assuming non WW2- Egypt, WW2- The DDay line.

What do you mean ' no squirming' ?!

Well I've thought about this. I would say Normandy. But of course Normandy would need a large contingent of RAF figures and planes to operate the Tank busting Typhoon cab ranks. Also of course I'd need Brit Paras to take out those Merville batteries..so D Day,RAF,Arnhem are all perfectly acceptable as one range!

Ok ok no squirming....not fair...Battle of Britain!

About 75% of my WWII collection is primarily late WWII as its concentrated on the Market Garden Waffen SS/Classic Germans and D-Day ( mostly Commonwealth pieces) lines. I also have some select Battle of the Bulge pieces. The other 25% of my collection is from the Fields of Battle ( mostly British) and RAF lines. I find that this keeps me more than busy. The American BOB and D-Day pieces I've cut way back on and the desert war I don't collect, not because I'm not interested. Its more to do with budget and space. The only new lines I want to dabble in are the Luftwaffe andUSAAF, but only if really good warbirds are released to showcase the groundcrews.

Sounds like we collect a lot of the same stuff CFM.

There is one range, and one range only that is calling me ever since it launched. I have fought the urge to buy it as much as I could my friends but I have to report that I am about to fold like a very very cheap deck chair. With a big anniversary coming up and big building plans at the Imperial War Museum to reflect this anniversary I am going to dip a toe in WW1.Can't help myself I'm afraid, have been totally addicted to that awful War since my school class went to Ypres waaaay back in the seventies. I know, Terry is right, no willpower!

It really goes by whats been most offered, so dday is #1, north afrika is #2 , then the bulge, arnhem and i have all the iwo jima sets. The russian front would be big if more was offered

Yes Gary, display space is another big issue. Figures are not too bad as I still have space to make use of, however AFV's are becoming a problem, got to find somewhere for K&C's Jagdtiger when it arrives.

Well most of my collection is RAF & 8th Army, & I have most the british FOB figures so I would have to say early war for me,
then again ive got all the british figures that were released for the D-Day landings range plus the landing craft & I plan on adding to this series in the future!!! Plus a few bulge figures but not many lol
