Hello All, If You Had To Pick Just One War Or Military Theme Movie To Keep In Your Collection Which Would It Be?? I Personally Love This One Called " A Midnight Clear" It"s Not A Private Ryan Or Band Of Brothers But It Is A Great Movie About A Small Group Of American Intelligence Soldiers Who Run Across A Small Nazi Camp And What They Go Through Together Without Giving Anything Away To Those That May Not Have Seen It. Please Lend Us Your Thoughts....sammy

I have restricted my miniature collections to WWII (mostly) but I enjoy war movies from all eras so it's normal for me to watch a classic like 'Waterloo' then say 'The Beast/of War'.

I really love war movies and I have most of the dvds in GuruDave's list plus a few extras such as Kokoda. However, if restricted to just ONE movie I would pick 'The Lord of the Rings' as the acting, special effects and overall enjoyment is hard to beat.

Other ones Battle of Algiers, Big Red One, Twelve O'Clock High, We were soldiers

recent ones I saw, a Korean one called Brotherhood of war was good, Cromwell enjoyable. New directors cut of Alexander ,made a huge difference to how the story plays out, worth rewatching, great film now! Miniseries Winds of war wasn't half bad either and Paths of Glory. Currently watching miniseries north and south, but haven't go to the war yet

I could go on....what the hell ...Black Hawk Down, Das Boot, First half of Full Metal Jacket, Tora Tora, Battle scenes in 300, Roman legions arriving in Spartacus and the opening battle sequence in Gladiator, and out in space has to be Starship Troopers.

Vintage TV footage of the Scottish Cup Final 1973 when several thousands of Celtic and Rangers Football Fans invaded the pitch at Hampden Park, Glasgow, and got stuck into each other. Includes exciting and graphic shots of the Strathclyde Mounted Police (all 12 of them) charging the opposing assorted; knuckles-trailing-on-the-ground, religious bigots, half-wits, drunk people, etc. and cracking a few empty heids with their great big truncheons.

Especially entertaining viewing for your's truly seeing as I support Aberdeen Football Club. The sight of all these cavemen with six-inch ridges of bone on their foreheads serves to remind me why I no longer reside in Scotland.

I thought you all might find this interesting. In a poll asking The British Forces serving around the world to name their favorite war movies their first choice was Zulu followed by Saving Private Ryan and a Bridge to Far. It's amazing the the majority who cast their vote for now serving in Afghanistan weren't even born when the movie was made in 1967. My choices have been posted along with many others of the forum on an early thread of the top ten war movies of all times....The Lt.
