First Legion is extremely pleased to present our newest figure range, the Anglo-Zulu War!!! Part of a larger plan to cover the wars of the British Empire, we are launching the range with the iconic Great British 24th Regiment of Foot. Elements of the regiment were heavily engaged in the desperate and heroic defense at Rorke's Drift where less than 150 British soldiers held off a Zulu force numbering close to 4,000. In this action, the 24th Foot were awarded more Victoria's Crosses than any other single regiment in a single action in British military history. Around the same time, the bulk of the regiment was decimated at the Battle of Islandawana where over confidence led to the annihiliation of the British and allied forces. With the stunning sculpting and hand painting that is our hallmark, these wonderful new figures can be used in a wide variety of dramatic displays. Zulu Warriors will follow up soon after the initial release. We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

As you will note, this is a very short pre-order of only about two weeks and the ship date of end of May is indeed correct. We're actually early with something this time, though I'm sure that doesn't make those waiting for the WWI range to launch any happier! Fear not, the WWI Germans are coming very soon along with a host of other things.

We sincerely hope you enjoy them. For a preview of their Zulu adversaries, please visit our workbench.

Beautiful figures :salute:: The sculpting and painting just continue to improve, really love the facial sculpts on some of these. The Zulu wars are not a range I collect but I will at least get one of each as part of my Warriors of Time display. Really looking forward to seeing the Zulus, I'm really impressed with the skill shown by First Legion when painting African skin tones as demonstrated in the Nam rage. Congratulations to the whole First Legion team really a fine job. regards Gebhard

Just checked the website and indeed the Zulu shown on the workbench meets expectations, Great figures

Good looking Zulu in the workbench FL site. Have to think hard about these, not cheap. Robin.

I personally like these more every time I see them. I have always been drawn to having/wanting a range of these figures from this action. Too late to join Britain's but, this has fell right in terms of time as I have just finished getting rid of my LAH collection so, plenty of room for a nice big display. I will build Rourkes drift myself (too mean to buy dio buildings!!) I have looked at the web and the Zulu warrior looks stunning also.

Definitely will end up with the correct amount for the action at Rourkes drift and will focus on the firing line to be the most multiples with others around the perimeter. Not sure that I will end up with 4,000 Zulu's but, I will have a crack at getting a decent number.

Really pleased with this range coming now.
Mitch

Hi Guys,
Just noticed these figures are in stock and shipping next day.. cheers Gebhard

These look really nice indeed. Even though it's not an era I collect, I feel compelled to pick up at least a few of them. They have some of the best facial sculpts I have seen from FL. I also like the variety of poses.

Joe..

My wife mentioned the same thing when we were looking at them before ordering. she was, as I am particularly impressed with the faces especially, zulu01 officer

Mitch, your wife must have a good eye because ZUL001 might have the best sculpted/painted face of any of the over 1,000 figures we've done in our seven year history!

I saw 8 new FL Zulu figures in the newest Toy Soldier and Model Fig Magazine. I think it would be fair to say that they are coming soon.

I was hoping that this will come out this month, I am really dying to continue on this collection. And this Zulu's would be great re-start.

Just a FYI the new Toy Soldier and Model Figure Magazine has a nice FL spread that reveals 11 new Zulu figures.

The Zulu collection by FL has been cool, I added Zul14. I got it Thursday. This time around.there was a couple of problems, the bayonet had a paint chip gone, and no left eye. I love First Legion as you have read through the years. But, for the fourth time the Quality control has failed, I bought the Napoleonic Austrian Flag bearer, and the face overlapped when it was made, decided to have the same piece, as a replacement, same problem. So FL lost me in buying more Austrians, next was A Red Lancer order, had the box crushed in one edge, I bought it direct, and was promised a new box, but it never came. Still I was true to FL and kept buying, did not complain. But this last one. I Have to mention it, because the Quality control. Should have caught it and never should have been shipped to a customer, that expected the best, in every order, nothing below that. The crushed box would have been replaced by Treefrog, without hesitation, by buying it direct. I was promised a replacement, that never happened. So I learned not to buy direct.
I will always buy First Legion, I am just hoping the QC. Will never send an item that is less than perfect, ever again. And that they will remember their promise, when they give it. By noting it. And I did let First Legion know about this last problem, so far I have not had a reply.

One thing to note, I did buy the Austrian Flag Bearer, Christmas time. The year, that it came out, when I visited Sierra Toy Soldier, just because I was at hand at the store, where I can inspect the piece, and avoid the frustration of having a third piece, with the same problem.. never got into the Austrian collection, the way I wanted.
