Listening to Texas government officials congratulating themselves for the “perfect” response to the recent deadly floods.

Especially those that say they wouldn’t have done anything differently given the chance.

The death toll alone calls for reflection and improvements.

I voted for many of them and I expect more from my leaders.

That type of hubris is insulting and worse yet, it is deadly.

Same deal in many recent tragedies including the terrorist attack in New Orleans where Granny Clampett is in charge of the police. As far as I know, she wasn't fired for incompetence.

The NOPD finally setup vehicle barriers, after the attack of course. The company that provided the barriers had to call the PD to let them know that they (PD) had set them up backwards.

This flood was a once in a century event. An act of God. Blame God. People are always looking to blame someone for events such as this that we just don't have any control over. Warnings were issued. I live in St Louis and several times a year our sirens will sound when there is a tornado warning. I don't gather the family and rush to the basement and cower in a corner until it is all clear. We can only do so much. As the old saying goes "s--- happens"

It's a tough situation. If they issue warnings too often, and nothing happens, then people begin to ignore them. If they don't issue a warning, and people die, they look to blame someone. With that said, I don't think it's too much to ask that maybe they not build numerous kids' camps in a known flood zone. It's like the folks who have built nuclear reactors on earthquake faults and entire communities in fire zones. Not a matter of if but when the disaster is coming.

Well, tornadoes hit St Louis this year so you're taking chances. On the other hand I know someone who took her children into the basement and the house collapsed dropping a beam onto her legs, losing both, but her kids were saved.

The Netflix commentator who shamelessly promoted the Taylor-Serrano fight throughout the bout. He often sounded like Bagdad Bob with his exaggeration and hyperbole. The fight was a dud and snooze fest compared to the first two fights but they made it sound like Ali-Frazier.

I have to return to a favorite topic and give it a bump-drivers who plant their asses in the passing lane and sit there, who will not pull over into the slow lane. Inconsiderate in the literal sense of the word-they do not consider the result of their behavior.

I agree, this rare flood does not call for paranoia with every rain drop requiring a flood warning. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t review the response and see where improvements can be made.

In other words (you are right s—- happens). However from time to time you can change your toilet paper for cleaner results.

The bizarre practice of charging the same price or even a higher price for the e-book over a hard copy. Think of all the expense that the publisher saves by not having to manufacture and then ship a hard copy to a store or customer. I'll never buy the book in that circumstance. It's a rip off.

Just like the convenience fee companies charge for using the electronic system.

I agree the incident should be evaluated and if improvements can be made so be it. As I posted no matter what happens people are always looking to blame someone. Some things you just cannot control. Here is another thing that I just shake my head. Example the guy that was killed at the Trump rally in Butler, Pa. I,ve seen it reported that he was a hero because he through himself in front of his family to protect them from the bullets. No he didn't that bullet struck him before he knew what was happening. How about some plane crashes where the deceased pilot was a hero because he avoided , you name it. No if he had any control of that plane he would have landed it or I would guess the moment he knew there was big time trouble the last thing he would have thought of I have got to avoid, again you name it, and crash this plane where no one else is hurt.

ESPN's coverage of the home run derby. Three plus hours. Thankfully I only watched about five minutes. Here's a tip for ESPN. If you are covering a HR contest, maybe try to show the HRs instead of the players standing in dugout or families. Awful.

High prices for convenience, be it an e-book or for a gallon of milk at the Wawa or Sheetz, don't annoy me, because I can choose not to buy them. Convenience has always had a higher price.
