US/Israel Launches Op Epic Fury Against Iran (1 Viewer)

So currently more than 3500x ships are currently 'anchored' waiting for the Straits of Hormoz to reopen.

Tentative estimates give at least 4 to 6 weeks to clear the back-log, unless of course you decide to pay for your oil in 'Yuan' as specified by Iran, opposed to the US petrol-dollar.

China, India and now Japan flagged oil tankers are reportedly taking full advantage of the 'Yuan' offer........
how can Iran close/block the strait if their navy is at the bottom of the ocean; what are they blocking it with, rowboats?

IRGC Navy Commander who held Strait of Hormuz in a ‘chokehold’ has reportedly been killed......

What Navy? I thought we sank all their ships; how can you put a chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz with no Navy?
Apparently you don't need much of a Navy to have more Admirals than Ships, look at the Royal Navy after being hollowed out for decades

I'm certainly not any sort of military expert, but trying to keep up to date on what's going on out there, this is what I'm seeing, hearing, reading, perhaps someone has a clearer view ?
I think it's going to be a stand off or more softening up for another few weeks or month as the USS Ford has had to withdraw to Crete for repairs following a fire, which no doubt lifted the morale of the IRGC. unfortunately for them, that unhappy accident has meant that another ship, the USS Boxer which while it carries far fewer planes, does have the advantage of carrying 3 large Hovercraft, capable of delivering armour and heavy supplies that helicopters would not of been able to and glide over seabed mines without detonating them, and also is carrying approx another 2000 Marines, is now in transit to the area, but won't be there for another few weeks.
So along with the 82nd Airborne which apparently is slotted for deployment, capturing the handful of island fortresses as well as the loading facilities on Kharg island around the strait of Hormuz, looks far more feasible with the USS Boxer and it's compliment of heavy Hovercrafts, being able to continue supplying any operations better than just the USS Tripoli on it's own.

I don't see, unless there is a political breakthrough with a long term peaceful outcome and I think realistically only a regime change would do that, and maybe the best chance of that succeeding is by the people of Iran itself rising up as they had done for several weeks, but getting slaughtered in the process, and perhaps with those deaths, the Iranians aren't keen to carry on, so whether there are enough supporters in Iran itself for the Crown Prince or someone else we will have to wait, though I'm sure the msm will carry on with their crap, as everyone becomes fed up as everything becomes more expensive.

Drones and missiles.
which they can make inexpensively. The Iranians have been providing drones to the Russians and the Ukrainians have offered to provide drones or drone technology to the U.S.

Regarding the people of Iran rising up, that’s unlikely to take place because of what happened in January. The regime is in survival mode and they don’t need to win, just survive. It’s a bit similar to Vietnam. North Vietnam didn’t have to win, just make it difficult for the Americans. Meanwhile the stock market cratered today, ratcheting up the pressure on Trump who is sensitive to how the market does.

That's exactly the point I made to my wife earlier today. Iran doesn't need to win, they just need to survive intact just as did NVA. But if we exact the nuclear weapons grade Uranium we win.

Winning takes a lot of forms. I agree that if we eliminate Iran's nuclear capabilities that alone is a major victory. It boggles my mind that our "allies" in Europe and elsewhere would apparently sit back and let Iran develop a nuclear weapon. What exactly is happening in those places? Are there no sane people left? Unfortunately, the Iranians apparently think time is on their side. They have miscalculated with Trump. If there are no concessions in the next week, the US is going to occupy many of the oil producing islands and bring Iran back to the stone age.

And do you think that we will be able to do occupy Kharg Island easily without massive casualties or that the Iranian regime will sit back and do nothing, such as perhaps attacking desalination plants, which are critical for survival in the Middle East. I think the Israelis have the capacity or will to do that because they have shown they will out crazy anyone but Trump? No way.

Problem will be finding the enriched uranium, Iran is a big country and it's known they have been burying a lot of the tunnels where it nay be buried, but may not, so an awful amount of time and energy would be needed and is it even altogether !?

If there is no regime change, then, there will be the continued Iran sponsorship of terrorism.

Unfortunately there is so much muslim influence in Europe, with so many pandering to them for fear firstly of being called racists, and not just of losing their votes, but of their rioting that has been seen in towns and cities and the police afraid to tackle them and also with DEI hires being in the ranks and command positions.

yes...American citizens are going to go flat crazy if Trump tries to occupy Kharg...that is a recipe for disaster...the casualty toll will sky rocket...

Israel and Trump are the crazy parties? Not the regime that murders thousands of its own citizens and has sponsored terrorism for the last five decades. What exactly is supposed to be done here? Pack up and hope for the best lke the rest of the world? Let a group of fanatics who publicly vow to destroy Israel and the US develop a nuclear weapon? That sounds like a great plan.

So what is to be done?
I have no idea...while we can truthfully boast we have the most dominant military force in the world...America is stuck in a quagmire...it seems like Iran has the upper hand...

while we can destroy any person, jeep, wagon or bicycle in Iran...but it's hard to do so without collateral damage to Iran's civilian population...which will turn hearts and minds against the US...

Iran is financing their war capabilities through oil sales...this administration is allowing their sale of oil to alleviate the world wide price of oil...it seems nobody regarded the Straight of Hormuz as a choke point...how did nobody see this?

seems like an endless supply of "who's up next" when we kill another regime or military leader...

the only options I see are troops on the ground...which I hate to see...really, really, really hate to see...and wouldn't commit to at this point...

or the option to broker a deal...

I don't know...I respect your opinion...

like John Quinones says..."What would you do?"

THIS has been my point since jump; a MASSIVE FUBAR that has caused gas prices to skyrocket, which has led to grocery, transportation, shipping, medications and numerous other items prices to skyrocket and the stock market to tank, it dropped about 800 points yesterday.

Not realizing how important/control of that strait is was as moronic as it gets.

My egghead Penn grad chief Trump ballwasher cousin refuses to admit this was a colossal screw up.

Pondering on the situation doesn't give anyone much confidence for the Worlds economies.

Everyone wants a quick fix, unfortunately that's not going to happen. Even if the Islamic regime folded today or President Trump ordered the fleet back to port, to do so isn't just surrendering, it's emboldening the regime to further attacks not just against Israel, but 99% of terror attacks worldwide and everyone who disagrees and does not submit to them and their ideology in their goal of Islamic dominance, laugh or nod your head, that is their goal.

A lot of damage has already been done to the Oil producing facilities, and just as importantly to the LNG that heats the peoples homes in Europe, I don't say the US, as I imagine that is produced in the US for local consumption as well as export, among other things and importantly the LPG exports that most of Asia, India, Pakistan, Thailand etc etc uses to cook with.

Also very importantly is the production of certain fertilisers, being a byproduct from Oil production ,along with the various gases, which is already effecting this years planting and next years harvest by those countries that buy most of their fertiliser from the area in much the same way as the collapse in supply happened with the first year or so of the Ukraine - Russia war did, not just with fertiliser but with wheat.
Fortunately at the time Canada among others increased their production and hopefully that will happen again, but one never knows with the deIndustrialisation of the West.
It's unavoidable at this point that most countries to some extent or another and especially those in Africa and Asia are going to feel the pain as well as Western countries with shortages along with much higer prices on food, day to day living expenses and air travel for work as well as holidays.
Oil not just for refining into petrol or rather the lack of it will also be effecting production of consumer goods, be they Cars, Smart phones, and many pharmaceutical drugs to name but a few, and with the lack of materials being available to manufacture, firms will no doubt need to lay people off.
Perhaps in Western countries, this will mitigated by governments stepping in with benefit packages, but in poorer countries there isn't much help, so richer ones will find themselves being asked to help.

George...agreed...I mentioned the Straight of Hormuz weeks ago...even before it became a news issue on tv...

I'm not military strategist...but if I could see this coming...

Who missed it?

Who is in charge?

Trump...Hegseth...Stevie Wonder?

If Iran keeps striking other countries oil production lines...this could really get worse quick...

I'll go with Stevie Wonder.

Iran is not going to go quietly into the dark night, they are going to cause massive amounts of destruction to oil and gas facilities in the middle east and go after numerous civilian targets in the region for starters, this is going to get A LOT worse before it gets better.

I'm utterly and thoroughly disgusted with the whole thing.

Just a MASSIVE overreach by Trump, since the average American does not care about foreign policy or the supposed "threat" of Iran launching a nuke at NYC next week, the house and the senate will be under Democrat control and the Nuremburg trials part 2 will start on Trump and his cronies, it's going to be super ugly.

The only good thing that has come from this is how I've been riding my egghead Penn Grad chief Trump ballwasher cousin over this whole thing...........I sent him that picture you sent me of the guy on the wooden raft and said "Here's footage from a drone as to how Iran is blocking the strait of Hormuz"..........he was not amused.

He can go pound sand, Mr banker who has .67 cents in the market, him and his family spend money faster than he makes it, his daughter wanted to go to some weirdo geekfest Pokemon convention in Boston this weekend, so he took her and his wife into Boston, rented a hotel room for two nights, they are going to the convention, a Bruins game tonight as well, the whole weekend will cost him probably 1500.00, which is 1499.00 more than he has, credit card debt up to his eyeballs, has been sued by the IRS and almost had his house foreclosed on, yet he is a know it all who talks at me, not to me, I can buy and sell him ten times over.

If the war has gone as swimmingly as Trump claims, the Iranians should have no missiles left to lob at tankers in the strait, all they should have left are slingshots and big rocks, yet the strait is still blocked and gas prices keep rising and the stock market keeps tanking.

GEGJ Trump.

Imagine three more years of this; I can only imagine how things will be in 2028, whatever is left of this country will be in tatters.

That huge gift that Trump said Iran gave us...

was allowing 10 of their oil filled tankers to pass through the Straight of Hormuz...

which put another $200 million in Iran's coffers...

a huge gift???
