US/Israel Launches Op Epic Fury Against Iran (3 Viewers)

What ticks me off is one minute Iran is a threat to the Middle East, Europe and us (basically the world) and the government there must be removed which I agree with and the next minute he wants to make a deal with them and leave generations of the future to deal with them. They are all a bunch of nut jobs.

Similar to Putin in invading Ukraine, he thought it wouldn’t be complicated and when it did he had/has no appetite for it. He was looking for the simple and easy but as we all know that part of the world is one big quagmire, no matter who gets involved.

Among other things, he wants to weaken the Endangered Species Act. It was through this act, as well as certain other measures, that the symbol of America, the bald eagle, was saved and brought back from extinction. Now, they want to eject another symbol of America that was neatly eradicated, the Buffalo, from certain federal lands.
Satellite photos now show Iran has been dumping oil into the sea off Kharg island.
Doesn't seem to be any Tankers docked at that time there, where it may have been a Tanker flushing it's tanks, illegal, but we all know it goes on.
Whether these oil spills are from storage tanks, or directly from a pipeline is the question ?

Not a word from Greta Thunberg and others about this, guess it's because they can't blame Israel for it.

The debate rages on but for me it still comes down to the US being a good ally to Israel.

Trump has continually and in my opinion rightfully demanded that Iran give up its nuclear enrichment production and nuclear weapon goals in order to protect Israel and the Middle East in general.

Talking of quagmires emanating from this war is the impending food shortages that are going to be felt in Africa due to cost of Diesel to Farmers and availability of fertilisers, with some of the larger commercial farms in South Africa having already decided not to plant this season.
Adding to the food supply pressures, some stemming from White Farmers being driven out by politicians in South Africa, wanting to curry flavour with the local populace, not to mention the riots and murders being organised against immigrant Africans by Africans, which is naturally also a cause of great concern.
Not to mention that some 90% of the food in sub Saharan Africa is produced by just 30,000 or so, white farmers left in South Africa, that they want rid off, that feed some half Billion people throughout Africa and beyond !
So the effects of this war in Iran is certainly spreading far and wide, if the nuclear issue behind the war had been tackled and a long term solution found years ago than this coming global disaster may of been avoided, but then not all cultures operate the same way.

What does how I felt about what happened have to do with you swearing off Trump and Republicans ever since?

One has nothing to do with the other.

On January 6th, after Trump lost the election...he incited the crowds at the Capitol to riot, which they did...with statements like these…

We won this election, and we won it by a landslide”...“We will stop the steal”...“We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn't happen”...“If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore”...

Then the violent riots happened...

Afterwards...when you said…“after January 6th...you felt so dirty as an American...you had to go home and take a shower.”

How you felt and what you posted...that had an impact on me…it sunk in quick that you were right to feel ashamed...and I should be too...I felt the same way...maybe your shower got your right...it didn't for me...I lost all respect for the man that day...

Russian leadership expected the invasion of Ukraine to be a swift operation, likely lasting only a few days to two weeks. Internal planning, including documents found by Ukrainian forces, suggested a rapid conquest within 10 days, with troops even carrying parade uniforms for a victory march in Kyiv

the Ukraine/Russia war has been going on now for 4 years and 2 months…

As of May 2026, an estimated 325,000 to over 350,000 Russian soldiers have died in the war against Ukraine. Total casualties (including wounded and missing) are estimated at roughly 1.2 million since February 2022, representing the highest fatality rate for a major power since World War II.

As of early 2026, the war in Ukraine has cost Russia an estimated $2.5 trillion in total economic impact, including direct military expenditures, equipment losses, and lost human capital. The war is costing roughly €250 billion ($268 billion) per year, placing extreme strain on the Russian economy and its national wealth fund.

Putin is stuck in a quagmire…

now that Trump has opened Pandora’s Box...Trump is stuck in a quagmire…

could this war in Iran last for years?

I hope not...but who knows...

Fear not Mike, your long national nightmare will be over soon.

And as per Julie's policy, this will be THE last post I will respond to regarding politics; this is a thread about the war in Iran, not a thread to talk about politics.

I'm as guilty as the next guy over this.

It ends here for me.

George...good advice to all of us...

you are sooooooooo right about getting off track...and I am also as guilty as the next guy too...

I try to be cordial and respond to questions asked...even if they don't fit the parameters of this thread...
but am going to make a conscientious effort to stay focused on the War and not other political posts on this thread...
I will slow my roll...sincerely...thanks for putting me on check...I hope all the posters read your last post and agree...

It's easy to get sidetracked and again, I'm as guilty as anyone, I don't want to see this thread get locked too, I'd prefer it stays open until the war is concluded in 5 or 10 years................;).

At what point does Russia call it a day; it's crazy that it's been going on for 4 years, imagine Ukraine holding out that long over Russia, just nuts.

A ground war in Iran would be a disaster similar or worse than this one.

When I was younger, it was all about the gym, booze and broads............now it's politics.

It's official; I've become my Dad.

He had a famous saying; "I don't have to respect the president, but I do have to respect the office."

That sentiment is long, long gone.

When Putin dies or beats Ukraine into oblivion. Sad, but he doesn't care. He will wage all out til they cave.

There is no comparison between the situation in Iran and Ukraine. The US is not going to enter any ground war with Iran. It's basically an economic war at this point with some occasional incidents. The criticism on the left is just a continuation of the old "if Trump does it, we must be against it" theme that has gone on for a decade and counting regardless of the implications for American interests. The US blockade is bringing Iran to ruin. The gas prices are a small price to pay. Undercutting that effort for political gain is a sad reality of modern American politics. Many of the same politicians criticizing this effort have long supported a reckoning with Iran.

so true...for $2.5 trillion and 350 million Russian fatalities...

it's obvious there is no limit in money or lives he's not willing to sacrifice...

he will "wage all out until they cave"...and he gets the real estate and terms he wants...

Edit in this post… Russia has lost 350,000 soldiers in this war… not 350 million…

Typical Russian, mass casualty, meat grinder style campaign that has won for them in the past.

Never mind tactics, intelligence or military superiority, just out number the other side and eventually you will win.

That failed miserably in Afghanistan and it is failing in the Ukraine even more spectacularly.

It worked in WWII after Kursk when the Russians steamrolled their way to Berlin; not so much in the two conflicts you referenced.
