US/Israel Launches Op Epic Fury Against Iran (5 Viewers)

Typical Russian, mass casualty, meat grinder style campaign that has won for them in the past.

Never mind tactics, intelligence or military superiority, just out number the other side and eventually you will win.

That failed miserably in Afghanistan and it is failing in the Ukraine even more spectacularly.
I hope our efforts in Iran don't ever resemble this...

A mistake nations make is fighting a war like the last war. We and the French did this in Vietnam, failing to adapt to new realities. We are doing it here, fighting a conventional war without adapting to a drone war.

This is what has happened to the Russians but they have adapted somewhat.

Speaking of Putin and the Russians they are not as strong as some think they are. The Russians actually now have a net loss in land for the first time in a few years. The Ukrainians are bringing the war home to the Russians, sending drones as far away as Yekaterinburg, 1,000 miles away from Ukraine, sending a message we can reach you. The war is a stalemate, which if it continues and it probably will does not bode well for his continued rule. There is a lot more grumbling in the political classes. Recently a prominent Russian blogger complained about a variety of problems that are not being addressed. Moscow had to acknowledge her criticism.

Normally, Russia has celebrations commemorating the end of WWII with lots of missiles and flashy weapons but this year’s version was a slimmed down affair because of the fear of Ukrainian reprisals. Although Putin attended the parade, he mostly spends time in an underground bunker as he’s deadly afraid he will be killed by Ukrainians or Russians not happy with the progress of the war or economic conditions. Reportedly, he does not allow his cooks or aides to use the internet or communicate with smart phones, only land line phones.

Does this sound like a man in control?

A Less Muscular Victory Day Parade Shows Putin’s Growing Vulnerability

The event, shrunken because of security fears, adds to a sense that Moscow and other Russian cities can no longer be insulated from the war.

Putin’s Forces Are Barely Inching Along on the Battlefield

The Russian military has yet to solve a fundamental problem: how to make big advances in eastern Ukraine when drones are everywhere.

Thank you...fascinating post...while that war once dominated the news...
with the lack of televised coverage lately...and Iran dominating the news...coupled with US politics...
I have not been following new developments between Russia and the Ukraine for some time...

I was not aware Putin cowered in a bunker to avoid being assassinated...
or the net loss of land for Russia...

Putin sounds like he is becoming more paranoid or careful by forbidding electronic communication by those close to him...

Russia grossly underestimated the Ukraine's resolve...as I did too...but I applaud their resilience and resistance...

as the current US administration has reduced new funding and stepped back from leading defense coordination...I hope the Ukraine can hold out...

but yes...sadly...Putin is still in charge...the strongest dissidents seem to be murdered...disappear or sent off to gulags...

the one thing that still bites on me the most...is Russia's obvious and intentional attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructures...war crimes by any other name...

I hope Iran doesn't fare as well...and the war with them doesn't last much longer...

very interesting article...thanks for sharing and unlocking...

loved this passage...

Still, Russia enters this push on the back foot. It has faced setbacks this year, including the loss of Starlink satellite internet access that helped guide its drones. The Kremlin’s throttling of the Telegram messaging app, as it tightens control over the Russian internet, has also hampered soldiers’ communications.
