Still Looking for PM - Napoleonics .... (1 Viewer)

Actually I was away so I didn't have a chance....wow..Ron......ONE is hard to get....its none of my business anyway.....the only thing I can say is...if I had sold you mine and didn't really want to sell it but did a favor for a fellow collector and sold him it for lets say 100.00 then saw that I would be disappointed.... I guess we all collect in different ways.

WELLINGTON

Well - Wellington, I guess the point is you shouldn't sell something if you dont want to sell it.

This tread was about the British Figure anyway - it was not about the Napoleon figure.

I really dont think I need to explain to you how I came about several Napoleon figures - which retailers sold them, which were found in my own collection in my Storage unit, who else approached me to sell one and why I wanted to see if someone in the European Market was willing to buy with the EURO at its all time high.

You know - if you really had a concern this could have been a better conversation over a PM - but, that wasn't was your intention was it?

Ron

I wasn't going to say anything but I feel I have to as I was the owner of a PM 01 Napoleon.

I offered the Napoleon on the Board before going to ebay and Ron offered me a very fair price. I noticed last week that Ron put one on ebay. I have no idea if that was the one I sold him but frankly it's none of my business, it's Ron's business. The price that Ron is listing it at is more than I sold it for but, again, that's Ron's business and if he sells it, I'll say "good deal." I believe I got a good deal from Ron and regardless of what it sells for I still feel that way.

Thank you Brad - actually a couple weeks after you - I got a offer for a few more - yours is still standing next to my Napoleon statue.

By the way - I currently have (4) FOUR PM-01 - when the post was made it was for the British Figure - not Napoleon - but, if someone wants to sell theirs to me at their price - then Wa La DEAL. After that it is mine.

Unlike the characterization made by Wellington - that I was "asking for a favor" that was NOT in my post. The British Sgt - Yes - Need him - PM-01, have plenty, but willing to buy more.

I hope that is enough information for all the busybodies out there.

To each his own, once you buy something, you are free to do what you wish with it. On the flip side, one is also free to choose to whom they sell something.

Specifically, Ron, your post does appear to ask for PM1, and in my opinion, when you ask for something on a forum such as this with fellow collectors, you expect to be treated decently, honestly and not ripped off, right? And the one who helps you out by selling you the piece is doing just that. Again, apparently, this instance is different, etc., but the point I am trying to make is that if my buddy helps me out by getting a piece for me at a good price for my collection, I am not going to turn around and flip it to make money and that is honestly what this situation looks like and why there is backlash. Again, apparently that is not the case, but prior to your statements, that is how it appears .

Point of my post is collector's etiquette is not to ask for a rare piece from a fellow collector with the goal of reselling it for a profit.

Over the years I have helped other collectors get the pieces they want at under the market prices, to later see them sell the piece for a higher price on eBay or at swap meets. It does leave you disappointed I must say. However I did sell it to them with only assumptions on my part rather than any agreed obligation. Which at the end of the day means they can do what they like with them.

And of course if you do happen to mention to them that you did do them a favor by selling it to them cheaply, they may do their best to return the favor sometime. So everyone wins ;) :D

Ron if I didn't rattle your chain once in a while I wouldn't be Wellington now would I........The Thread was placed on a public Forum asking ALL forum members if they had certain "PM FIGURES" which are rare and hard to find, judging by the responses I assumed you had fulfilled your dream....I noticed that you were now selling one of these figures on EBAY..which is also a public auction....I thought that maybe you were getting out of the Napoleonic line..... I was simply shocked to see you selling off this figure you had worked so hard to get....I didn't think I brought up anything that was private.....the second post was simply answering your question.....I didn't realize that my first post was going to open a can of worms......hey if you can buy reasonable and sell really high all the power to you....:)

I will simply FORM SQUARE now..

I agree 100% with this sentiment. I would not help a collector if he or she has a reputation of selling pieces they asked for help to obtain.

Yo Troopers, got to get my Sabre in here and its sharp. I agree with you guys if a fellow collector is looking for a certain piece to fill the collection, and I sold him that piece, then saw it for sale on ebay would be really miffed off. The idea of collectors helping each other out on this forum to me is, not to make a profit out of a favour, I mean the guy could have sold it himself on ebay. I know if I asked my Buddy Dickbuttons for a certain piece or set and he let me have it, and then Dick seen it on ebay for sale, dont think he would be my buddy after that, its like stabbing someone in the back to me. Anyway looking for a 7th Hussar set #2075 while we are on this subject lol.
Bernard.:D

Well - most of the posts here are being driven by personal attacks - not trying to understand what actually happen. But, then most of you don't really care - it just another chance to "stick it to me" - isn't ?

Ron...I have been attacked on here before as well.....well guess what....I read that the French actually formed squares as well during attack.....if I were you I would FORM SQUARE.

For the Forum members.....when I made my initial comment on the Thread I had not meant for it to cause a problem for Ron..sometimes I can be cynical not meaning to hurt anyone.... I suppose I spoke my mind aloud....I rarely sell my stuff ..I have not sold Ron anything...really its not my business as he has said....if I sold Ron something than that maybe a different story...anyhow Ron is a softy deep at heart, I have my own views which I probably should have kept to myself....Please accept my appologies...

It's just when I see your name I think of Napoleon and want to attack....sorry old war wounds I guess even if they happened over 200 years ago....:)

I could have sent you a PM back but I figured a public appology might be better.

That statement is so disturbing on so many levels

Thank you for your apology.
