Can someone who owns both tell me how the Jackson from the Great American series compares to the new one (realize the new one is mounted).

Thanks.

I like both versions, but the new mounted version is superior.

Thanks. I don't have the new Jackson yet so I guess my question is whether the old Jackson will fit in with the new releases?

Looks like one of our fellow members must have put two and two together and purchased the one that was on ebay . Oh, well, I'm sure it will show up again.

What are we actually saying here? Are the new Reb/Union releases a smaller scale than the earlier sets?

The usual 60mm size of K&C first/second ACW release has always precluded me from purchasing them as they look-especially when mounted-too darn big against my 54-57 mm collection. I tried using a couple of them but sold them on as they just didn't look right (size comparison) against the rest of my Reb army.

But I would definitely be interested in them if they were smaller than 60mm. Now not sure if I have interpreted correctly what another poster has stated that the older Jackson is a bit bigger at 60mm but does that mean that the newer sets are smaller or bigger?

Apologies but I've got slightly confused with the thread comments

Reb

Bob,

I wasn't referring to size at all but to the sculpting. However, I was looking at the Treefrog site this weekend at the old retired K & C sets and there was something on there about the old ones being larger than the new ones so maybe the new ones are closer to 1/32. Maybe somebody who has both can do the measurements.

Cheers,

I remain convinced that the ACW is the one toy soldier theme where personality figures are the most popular. I am sure that General's Lee and Jackson have been done in miniature more than any other historical figure including Napoleon. Just an observation.

Truer words (IMO) have never been spoken. I could make a whole collection out of my Civil War. I have contemplated selling everything else b/c of space, money, etc. to do just this!!!!! BUT these ******* Vehicles from World War 2 keep holding me back. This eats at me a lot. I love the Civil War, it is my primary favorite. BUT, the displays are not as lively and are more personality driven. When I say lively, it is more about men/cannon than V2's, tanks, odd vehicles, staff cars, elephants, etc.

If I ever sell my collection, I will have to do it in a great many pieces. Who knows if the economy turns, you might see a few real rarities appear on ebay, but now, I will not sell them just to sell them. I think I am learning though it is good to thin the collection every now and then. (at least my pocketbook thinks so)

Great looking little man! Congrats my friend!! Have you had a decent night's sleep in recent memory?;)

He is actually a great sleeper...knock wood....he is 9 weeks old and has already given us a couple 6 hour nights! :D We mainly get 3-4 but from what I hear that too is doing pretty good. Will you be coming solo to OTSN? I'm thinking soon your son will be able to join you. :)

For those that do not know the line, which is the new?

In Ron's original picture of four, the new ones are the first and third from the left.
