Hi Guys,

A few random responses and replied to points raised on the Forum…

1. “Palm Trees for Daruss”
Re your concern about the need for “Palm Trees”… Well, yes I do think we need more vegetation in general and palm trees in particular for series like Afrika Korps… 8th.Army… Crusaders & Saracens… Ancient Egypt… Iraq and Afghanistan and… our upcoming “Blue Hawaii” range.
As for so many people making them… Can you supply a list of all the companies currently producing these items?

2. “Kelly’s Heroes”
Lovely idea… just a teensy-weensy, itty-bitty problem about copyright infringement. Hollywood studios get awfully picky about unauthorized use of names, characters and even movie titles… So I’ll pass on this one and leave it to Mr. Conte.

3. Toy Soldier Shop in Florida
Our friend Tim Tyler has the only store I know of in Jacksonville. Tim is an old friend of both myself and K&C and a great K&C dealer. I recommend him very highly…
And I second anyone who recommends “The Cheesecake Factory”!

4. Grey Sd.Kfz.222???
Sounds like a good idea to me…

And that’s all for now folks.

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

P.S. “Flags”
Sorry I almost forgot this one… someone, somewhere mentioned that they don’t like some flags because they consider them to be “historically inaccurate”… Well, they have a point perhaps… But, did that stop Errol Flynn charging the Russian guns at Balaclava with a “Union Jack” in hand?

Of course it didn’t and besides it looks great!!!
Flags and flagbearers do sell and many collectors, myself included, like a splash of colour on our battlefields… apart from blood that is!
If our flag friend doesn’t like flags then “Hey Presto”… don’t buy the flags… buy the other pieces.

In the case of the Light Horse flags we intend to do the “Red Duster” version of the Aussie Flag and the 4th Light Horse Brigade Guidon… There are many, many casual buyers out there who may just buy one figure… especially as a souvenir from Australia… hence the Aussie flag. As for the Brigade flag… why not?

And besides…I like flags… so there!

I am speechless about the person, that does not like flags. I personally Love them. All my napoleonics, started with a flag. And a flag in any collectors field, draws the attention (saying Knock me if You can!!) Of everything and everyone.
So Andy from all of us that loves something in the center, Of whatever chaos. that is on the field. A FlagBearer is Greatly appeciated!!

Cool. So when's the next release due?;)

Regarding Andy's points

Andy, thanks for clearing up about the Light Horse flag. I think I got mixed up between Brigade flag and 4th LH guidon.

I knew i couldn't be the only Brit who knows about the Cheesecake factory!:D

Also speaking only for myself i know, but i'm glad K&C are not doing Kelly's Heroes.KH is a slightly rubbish Entertainment/War film.K&C make the best WW2 figures on the market, think it would be a shame if they diverted into dubious entertainmemt areas, keep on doing what you do Andy:).

There, I didn't mention the c.....t (sport not bad word).

Andy old buddy old pal, is there any chance of a 12th LH guidon, it even has a Kangaroo on it which makes it more appealing to those foreigners collecting Aussie stuff ;)

Oz,
A 12th LH guidon might not work too well with 4th LH figures. We will have to hope and lobby for 12th LH to be represented in the series later.
I can't see it up close but another problem is the guidon list of battles may include Beersheba. Another "technical" problem since could not have sewn it on before the battle.
Either way flagbearers do look nice and will add to the great look of the K&C
Light Horse Charge series.

Hi Guys
I am so happy to have turned on the computer and read this thread. I have previously mentioned on other threads the importance of "the Flag". It has to be the centre of any pre 1900 battlefield. To those of you that produce such excellent battle ground scenes flags only enhance such spectacular displays.
I would love the thought of a manufacturer/company producing an annual "Club Figure" of, prehaps a Standard Bearer from different time periods and countries. (I hope your reading this Shannon)
Thanks Brett I received my LH figure today :) :)

Rob,
We are no longer friends. The Kelly's Heroes comment is too much.:D

Andy,

I understand the copyright issue, however a custom made one -off for my movie/playroom would be a wonderful gift to receive from my old friend, a British gentleman currently residing in Hong Kong....................:D:D:D

Just kidding, I figure one day, I will convince Alex P. to go into figure sculpting and I should be all set! The tank will be the easy part.

How would you feel about a M.A.S.H. series Rob ??

Now i have to think very carefully here...if i say no i will offend not only people who are interested in that conflict but also fans of M.A.S.H......erm...why not!!;)

Kelly's Heroes is a fun movie, but I can't say I'd spend $150-170 for a tank variant that didn't exist until after WW2 was over. As far as copyright, I noticed the 1/35th resin figure set was titled "The Entrepeneurs" so that they didn't step on any movie titles.

You guys may have to settle for 1/35th scale - the tank and figures ARE available in that scale.

As far as M.A.S.H. - the movie or the TV show? Tou might notice that in general the movie characters are somewhat more "military" than the TV versions. Vehicles would just include the WC54 ambulance and some jeeps.
