Andy's Talk at 5th Chicago K&C Dinner (1 Viewer)

With you Marc,
So brittfarmer, your accusing Brett of being a racist?? you did say he made a racist statement?
Ray

In our opinion, it was. Instead of focusing one small comment, why don't we focus on how great a dinner it was.

Wow ! I had never considered that expressing a view that black WWII toy soldiers would not sell as well as white could be considered slightly rascist. My apologies to any who were offended. You will note that even Andy in his talk had to be apologetic when indicating he had no plans to do black airmen figures because he thought they would not sell so well.
Guess I better not express my thoughts about how WWII French figures sell (in Australia) compared to British and US figures.
Correct me if I am wrong Britfarmer but it was you who deleted the word Pom from a number of posts made by Aussies having fun with British forum members when the cricket was on. I am a Pom in Australia and have absolutely no problem with the term.
I think perhaps political correctness can be taken too far sometimes.

Brett

Brad,
He made a statement about sales figures, not about race.
Ray
PS it seems only logical that if you censor Brett statement, you should also purge Andy's statement on the same grounds.

Did anyone notice what was served?:D Or was everyone engrossed in the

conversation?:D

The food was actually delicious. I had ribs and Texas Brisket, while others had ribs and pulled pork. It was a great meal.

Laura McAllister and her son Jamie sat at our table and it was a delight to meet and talk to them. It was a great dinner and I think everybody had a great time. 92 people attended the dinner and according to Pete Reuss that was about 40 more than last year.

Brad......its going to be difficult for me to pass next year! I may have to

drive up!:D

John,

You have to. There are no excuses this time. A gaggle of Treefroggers will be arriving in Marietta next September to spirit you away! :)

Brad,
Ok now you have got me !!! What is "pulled" pork ? Never heard of it and need to know if I have been missing something.
Perhaps Wayne can help me find the Aussie equivalent.
Regards
Brett

Brett,

You and I are in the same boat. I had to ask Tom what it was. I think they pull the pork from the pig, which is why I think they called it pulled so it looks like tiny strips.

Brett, thats a southern thang. You take a Pork Butt, put it in the smoker with

some brown sugar and BBQ sauce and cook it up until it falls off the bone.

Then you hand pull it with forks and make yourself a sam-itch!

Usually served with fries, beans and so forth. No longer available on my diet!

Brad,
Does not seem so interesting now other than to reveal you guys don't have knives and forks !!!!:D:D:D:D
My favourite pork would be the Chinese style 'cha siu" and the roast suckling pig but my wife has to give me a dirty look otherwise I can eat too much of it.
Regards
Brett

Njja,
You must be in marketing or sales of some kind because that looks very good. So good that I am sure my wife would frown upon it !!

Brett
PS Gotta go for a while as my web page still needs heaps of work !

Yes once upon a time! Today I am a gentleman of leisure with not a care in

the world........."Yes Dear, I will take out the garbage and walk the dog"

what was I saying........:D

First there was only one which was mine and I thought I asked a valid question. Secondly the opposed view was quoting a semi racist remark with political connotations.

Funny - I actually thought your post had political connotations to it - which inspired my response. Interesting.

I think it would be best to leave ALL POLITICAL CORRECTNESS off the forum - Member and Moderator alike.

Life of Jesus :)

Thank you Steven- this is quite an interesting choice with so many possible avenues it can travel. I'm really looking forward to seeing the creative direction of this range as it unfolds.:)

Amen to that! I am so bloody tired of it all. Can we not be nice to each other and excuse the occaissional lapse of propriety?

I like many others have been looking at all the releases announced at Chicago.
Some forum members have commented in this thread upon the lack of black WWII soldiers / airmen by K&C and indicated they would collect such figures if available. It seems odd to me that none of these same members have commented upon the Bofors Gun and crew by Figarti and expressed their support (and hopefully placed their orders).
So one manufcaturer who has not done something gets commented upon but another who has actually done it gets no comment.
Makes no sense to me.
Regards
Brett
