I have just recently decided to collect the K&C US "China" Sailors & Marines. To add a more colorful backdrop to this I have also decided to collect some of the matte Streets of Old Hong Kong sets. I received this one today #HK155M The Shoeshine which depicts a British sailor getting "shined up" before he starts his liberty. The building on the left is K&C IC011 Chinese Opera Stage, and the background picture is a moongate in Fenghuang, China that I found on a google search. I haven't had the time yet to make a proper display base so there is a stark delineation contrast between the foreground and the background. So far I am extremely impressed with the few pieces I have acquired and I am glad I started this collection.

Very nice Mike.:) I'm getting a few of the USN/USMC figures myself for a Pearl Harbor diorama.

Best regards,
Jake

Mike...that's a really nice picture...anxious to see this series unravel at your house.

Very nice Mike, looking forward to seeing future additions. I just hope you don't abandon your ACW dio (It is one of my faves)

Nice first setup Mike, I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Splendid Mike!

Where did you find the retired Opera stage? I've been looking for that one too.
I plan to continue the USN/China photo-diorama series I began last year as seen below.

Great photo as always Randy. I found the opera stage this past weekend at the Hobby Bunker :). Got it yesterday via UPS - its really a very nice piece - very colorful. The Shoeshine set was acquired from the Monkey Depot. I have a large order coming from Treefrog Treasures scheduled for Tuesday delivery - the fun will really begin then.

Mike,

This is an excellent range to collect, I started some years ago with a couple of figures and then my wife took an interest in them and took over. Her collection of SOHK figures now resides in her display cabinet along with other Chinese/Japanese items that she has acquired.

Imho the SOHK is the best painted and detailed of all the K&C ranges and is much under rated.

I will take some photos of my wife’s collection later and post them.

Hi Mike

It's no longer on their website so you must have gotten the last one. :(
I have tried for over a year now but all the dealers seem to be sold out. This is the one K&C piece of Chinese scenery that I am most anxious to find so if anyone knows where there is one available please PM me.

Mike, I'm very curious. Do you have a diorama planned out for your new figures?:) And if so could you please share some details of what you've got in mind?

Best Regards,
Vick

Vick, I do have a diorama/display in mind. Nothing as elaborate as my ACW table though. I am currently looking for a consol/sofa table that has an oriental influence it its design, perhaps 48L" x 20D" to place the display on. This will give me the space to utilize 2 K&C Jettys with a connecting Foot Bridge and have enough room to create a "plaza" so to speak off to one side running perpendicular to the Jettys. I am not going to try to create any particular Chinese "treaty port", but just try to create a nice display that suggests pre WWII China along the Yangtze River.

Look forward to seeing the final result.
