I like K & C but sometimes!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

I don't think any reasonable person could interpret my posts to mean Andy should "beg for forgiveness". More spin. My guess is some are selling KC products on the secondary market and want to maintain their value no matter what. That is what I consider sad.

Talk about spin  - who said anything about a secondary market ? -- and to that point what secondary market is there during this recession ?

You said - that "ANDY SHOULD MAN UP" - right ? Well, sounds like request of begging/explaining to me.

That fact is Andy Neilson doesn't owe anyone any explanations for his products - if you don't like it - don't buy it ... sound familiar ??

Like I said - you have your right to your opinion - but, I think King & Country is a GREAT COMPANY and Andy Neilson is a LEGEND in our hobby. :)

Shannon is right Ron,just because you are the only one calling for them doesn't mean the rest of us are all Seminole haters!!!!:D:D;)

Rob

and I know there are SEMINOLE HATERS out there too !! LOL :p:D;)

I've never really understood why people get upset by the 'If you don't like it don't buy it' phrase.:confused:Surely its the same with lots of things???.I don't like Peanut butter so I never buy it,but at the same time I don't tell people that do Peanut butter is wrong and they are fools for buying it.;)(although how anyone can eat that stuff is beyond me and they are mad.....oops I did it!:D)

Actually if you run a business and screw up you do owe your customers an explanation. That doesn't really seem like a radical notion. That goes for anyone. To go overboard in his defense when you apparently have no connection to KC strikes me as a bit odd.

Wow - you have high opinion of your rights as a customer. We simply don't share that opinion.

I personally don't think I went overboard in Andy or K&C's defense - I stated the my opinion - nothing odd about that. Everyone knows where I stand on when it comes to King & Country. And I am consistent in all my posts on all the threads.

I really don't believe Andy / K&C or the Government of Hong Kong - China owes me an explanation on any products being produced by King & Country - weather I like those products or not.

Maybe it was the LEGEND part. :) Ron is a good guy in my opinion if anyone believes we are getting heated. ;) btw: I thought you hated China - they were going to nuke us etc.

I don't think this is getting heated, just an honest exchange of views in my opinion.

Now about those Seminoles;)

Rob

LOL - I see things don't really change here at Treefrog Forum.....

I am amazed at all the personalization that is going on here if King & Country doesn't make this item or that ? - OMG, gentlemen - MAN UP !

It is a World Wide Business - which requires an appeal that must sell around the World !

We are very fortunate to have so much information and access from King & Country. Who else puts out MONTHLY production schedules ??

Andy is one of the most reachable makers of the Toy Soldier Industry - some of the complaints - here in this thread - come from the CONVERSATIONS YOU HAD WITH HIM during one of his numerous appearances !!

Look - if you want to groan & moan - hey, thats your right. But, please - lets be honest - there is NO OTHER TOY SOLDIER MAKER WHO IS MORE ACCESSIBLE THAN ANDY NEILSON !

I personally think its great that King & Country makes so many different items and has so many different ranges - some I want - some I do not - thats what collecting is all about.

We should throw roses at his feet for all the choices he and K&C has given us over the years - no one told him he had to do it ! Yes - he is a businessman and makes a profit - but, he is also a visionary - he led our hobby into the 21st Century and made the advances in our hobby that other Toy Makers have copied for their own profits.

Without Andy Neilson - collecting Toy Soldiers would be something less than it is today.

Let us not forget how we got here in this place and time of Toy Soldier Collecting.

I am happy to see Figarti, CS, Britains, TG, Conte and others taking advantage of the renaissance in the Toy Soldier World that King & Country created. I collect their items too and love them - but, I always know in the back of my mind where we came from since 1984.

It can be frustrating not to get the particular range or figures you want - hey remember my SEMINOLES! (still a very profitable and great idea !! :D) - but thats up to the business guy who has to do what makes his business work - not me the collector.

I am sure the haters will come out on this one - and maybe I will get popped by Shannon again from some transgression which I have caused. But, lets face it - we - the Modern Toy Soldier Collector - owe a lot to Mr. Andy Neilson and King & Country.

In My Opinion - Of Course ;)
I wholeheartedly agree with you Capitol,And we are not only attracted To His Products that he makes , We are Also attracted To A great Man/ Person, Manufacturer, And Collector. He is approachable, He can be Very direct. And that is probably why sometimes it can be Uncomfortable. But, Would we have it any other way? I.E. Withe the Tuskegee Airmen, When it was brought up . He Could have said" We are looking at that option, But have not decided if we are going to do it." But instead a direct up to the point, answer. NO B.S. , No false hopes( Of course A Tuskegee airman In a P-51, would be "Golden", Just had to put in a cents worth of suggestion)

I think this hits it. I took no offense to the Airmen comment, I was there, but I took it as an HONEST businessman. He tells it like it is, devil be ****** and that is why I like him. About time someone did this with this era of thin skin. I get so dadgum tired of people wish washing every situation, just say what you think, I really appreciate that.

For instance, every time I see Andy, I ask about Pirates, he patiently tells me the same thing, NO SHIP, no Pirates even though he has beautiful scuplts. SO, I suggested, give them to me as a Club release, I did see a faint twinkle in his eye, so maybe....

I also suggested Sherlock Holmes, maybe I will get lucky one day.

Point is this is the beauty of Andy, he gives you the opportunity to ask and he frankly does make a lot of the suggestions.

My prediction - A Jadgtiger is coming. No inside knowledge, just a gut feeling.

Well, its almost like talking about a favorite team, Favorite place, favorite....
We can talk about it over and over again. but it hardly gets old... Most of the time. ;)

Wow ! That is a lot of posts since 24 hours ago.
I do not agree with the concept that Andy/K&C have to explain any mistakes or particular items where artistic licence may have been used or why K&C has not made a particular item. Getting into detail and responding to posts about reference material and specific aspects of vehicles etc would be very time consuming and as has been seen by previous threads the debate could go on for a long time.
If K&C create an item then it is the individual customer who decides if he wants it. Whilst you may not be happy with that particular item the odds are K&C will have something in the future that may be of interest.
It is obvious that Andy reads the forum but he could not possibly respond to all suggestions and requests. To not do more FJ's or some Seminoles (or in my case Zulu War) is a purely commercial decision. Since Andy has been in the business for 26 years I would like to think his current success is based on his long experience which would include past mistakes, what sells and feedback from I would guess thousands of collectors. I stand to be corrected but is there anybody else out there with such experience ?
At the end of the day K&C can only produce so many items per month.
I note on his USA trips Andy is visiting quite a few dealers so if you have only met him through the forum I would highly recommend getting along to one of his talks and listening to him "live".
Regards
Brett
PS Just in case you don't know I am a K&C dealer !

Now you have me wondering. He took some pains to clarify that he did not say he would not do a Jagdtiger. And he does seem to like making the occasional very large AFV. And Jagdtigers were used on the Western Front later in the war so they would fit right in to the WS range. With zimmerit and a factory applied ambush camo pattern. Historically accurate that way. :) Sounds pretty good to me.

Now I wonder if we can also get Andy to put winterketten tracks on an appropriate AFV for an Eastern Front winter scene? ;)

I'd love to see one of these 71 Ton Monsters from K&C.With the 128mm gun and 250mm armour it was a beast on the Battlefield.Despite its pro's it did not have a glorious History by any means and although 150 of these were ordered considerably less were produced.Another problem was the fact that many European bridges simply could not take its massive weight, however despite all this, with that gun it could take out allied armour at long distances almost with immunity. Terry gave a good example the other day of it being defeated by a group of the ever reliable Shermans who penetrated the Jagdtigers side armour when a panicked driver exposed his side armour when trying to flee.

Some were destroyed by Allied airpower and the dwindling German fuel supply forced some crews to abandon these huge AFV's.I think this would be a stunning release and I'd sign up straight away;)

Sounds like it's time for a Jagdtiger yea or nay poll.:D -- lancer

As someone once said "never argue with a man whose paycheck depends on not being convinced." So I will leave it at that. Besides we are boring Brad.;)

Please - no more polls  I think most armour collectors would say yes to a Jagdtiger without needing a poll.

Terry
Aw, whats one more poll, more or less. Besides, only a poll makes our opinions officially official. :D:p:rolleyes: -- lancer

Out of respect for Terry I won't post an amour poll, but I warn him its only temporary!.:D.I don't think theres any harm in them, its just a bit of fun to see who wants what. They can get too much if theres one after another but now and again is not hurting anyone.
