Gordon Neilson to Start Producing K&C Custom Dioramas in San Antonio (1 Viewer)

1) Nick and I got the message we are not accepted when no one introduced themselves at the NJ Show (Except for Fish)

2) I don't sell dioramas

3) I do not mention my sponsors any more on this Forum

4) I have to use I a lot, because I usually stand alone against the Kool Aid Crowd

5) Thanks to my sponsors for making it possible to entertain the troops that want to be entertained.

6) Forget about my comments here, and continue with your wonderful and informative conversations. I will crawl back in my hole, sorry for stating my point of view

6) I will post dioramas By Figarti and New Model Army (Who are two of my sponsors) for your entertainment, because our friends at Treefrog sell their products, and I guess that is good thing. But if you don't want to see those I will not post them either.

Besides what others you said, you act as if nobody was interested in dioramas or realism before you got here. I looked at when the Bored Tonight thread was started by Carlos. It was about two months before you got here so people were, have been and are still interested in dios whether or not you make them.

Getting back to your original post, when King and Country goes into the diorama business, it's going to attract a lot more business because it is King and Country. Those are just the facts.

Yes, you seem to be talented but you also have this persecution, self promoting attitude that just gets tiring.

As far as people not wanting to speak to you, if I had seen you I would have introduced myself but I didn't and why don't we let Nick speak for himself.

You can tell you are a lawyer you do your home work. Carlos started that thread (He is actually the one who got me started doing Dioramas, Thanks Carlos). It was a novelty then, when I and others started bringing the Diorama aspect to light, then a lot of people came out against us, and I was in the middle of most of those conversations

If it takes King and Country to bring the merits of Dioramas to light GREAT!, Thanks Andy

I couldn't care less if no one talked to me. Nick is the one who mentioned it in a few posts, and to me, that he was a bit disappointed that no one spoke to him.

You guys are the Perfect Classy TOY SOLDIER COLLECTORS, I am just a little rat crawling around trying to peddle dioramas. I have a collection bigger than Lewis's now, and I have become very wealthy with the profit from my dioramas, can you blame me:rolleyes: Firebat

Ahhhhh I thought you didn't sell anything? (trying to peddle dioramas)

You have a collection bigger then Louis's.........I don't think the

Smithsonian collection is larger then Louis's.

You have become wealthy from the profit from your dioramas?

Thats a near trick since you keep saying you have nothing to sell.

All I can say is Goodie......Goodie for You!

Speaking of dioramas,
I,m sure british paras or a LRDG chevy would look great in one;)

Does anyone have any information on the pricing and production runs of these proposed K & C dioramas?

I suspect they will be beyond the means of most collectors and mainly for the hardcore King & Country collector and those that like to speculate in K & C.

As for the Sarge/Firebat firefight. Having worked in a rescue unit myself I have some idea of what he experiences and the stress it causes. Consequently I tend to cut the Sarge a bit of slack when he goes off on a tangent. Sometimes we forget that our personal lives influence our behaviour on these forums - just a thought guys.

You'll have to talk to Gordon about the pricing of dioramas, but based on my experiences purchasing dioramas from K&C over the years, I would bet a smaller diorama (around 2 foot square, with a building, a ruin or a custom vehicle) would go for between $750 and $1200, a big complicated one (like a 5 foot by 2 foot castle) would run $2000-$3500. They might be cheaper if they are production rather than custom items.

Louis or anyone else,

Will these diorama peices be special customize sets or will they be producing the smaller buildings and accessories in larger production runs like JGM and Build-A-Rama?

Carlos

Louis,

Oh, I forgot to ask a follow up question.

If these are just highly customized larger diorama offerings, any speculation how many collectors will be attracted enough to make the significant required investment? I know its pure speculation but is it 50, 100, 200, more?

Just wondering,

Carlos

Gordon is very creative, and prefers to do unique custom designed and constructed dioramas. It has been my experience that he will work to satisfy the requests of individual collectors.

Even where he is going to do many dioramas on the same subject (such as the Saracen Castles, like the one I purchased in Chicago, or the Large and Small Alamo Dioramas), he will usually make each one slightly different and therefore unique. For example, after I purchased the first Saracen Castle Fred, Thierry and Hans Hedrich all ordered one. Gordon took the basic measurements like wall and tower heights, widths, etc, but intends to make each one just a bit different in layout. Similarly, after the gala opening of Kings X, three of the giant 10 Foot by 5 Foot complete Alamo Battlefield Dioramas and several of the 2 foot square Alamo Chapel Dioramas were ordered. While the big ones will all be the same, the smaller chapel dioramas will have slightly different sized bases with different surroundings, making each unique.

Even with popular subjects like these, I doubt more than 10-15 of each will be made in total.

I would think that the number may be small because I think the cost is outside the range of most collectors. Although the dioramas are very good, I would have to think twice about spending that kind of money for a diorama or at least competitively price it with other diorama makers such as Marc Thorsen or Nick.

Firebat, Relax, everyone likes your dioramas, but you'll be horribly crushed if you think you'll ever get approval equal too or surpasing the raves to K&C from the mindless zombie coolaid drinkers on this forum.
Ray ;)

Ray

I think you have gone bit to far calling people on this forum mindless zombies & coolaid is better than somethings I used to drink.
Nobody I know of on this forum is trying to put someone or their work down. No one looks a picture and sees the same thing.
Alex's work is great and I've told him so and so are many others on this forum.
K&C is a commerical operation and has manpower & money to produce a diorma. Its very hard for a hobbiest to beat that.

Anyway I don't care for your mindless zombie remark.

Chuck,
take it easy buddy, you'll notice the smiley face, the only reason I mention that particular phrase is I have heard on Rush's show that the dems refer to his listeners as the same, I think thats as rediculous as saying it about the people on this forum.
It seemed in sinc with the over passionate messages flying around on this subject.

Chuck Harris is one of the nicest gentlemen on this Forum. He only has nice

things to say about other members. If he feels anyones comments have been

out of line I would suggest they review what they have said.

How much do you think Gordon would charge me for a Zombie diorama?
Ray :D

Guys, the reason I started this thread was to discuss Gordon making official K&C dioramas, not to get everybody up in arms. So maybe I should get us going in another direction: What custom diorama would you like K&C to make for you?

I'll get us started. I intend to have Gordon make me an aircraft hanger for my RAF airfield diorama and the bridge and a 3 foot by 3 foot section of deck (maybe with an Antiaircraft gun battery) from a small WWII carrier (all obviously to better display my K&C warbirds).

As always I would like an Arnhem Bridge with 3-D Buildings, and some original Arnhem sets!:D

Thanks for a dose of reality, Louis, do know what the Battle of the Bugle dioramas that Gordon made for Chicago sold for? Does he have per square fee or is on a per specific job basis? Thanks;)
