Firefly question (2 Viewers)

One more pic that I've posted before. I just love this scene!

Hi Terry- it's night time now and the lighting isn't great.
I'll try for a better pic tomorrow or another angle.

Does anyone know what is causing all this paint flaking as, its now concerning me for buying future products. I have two the V2 black and white and the winter 88 but, touch wood... no probs so far but, its getting regular in the last few weeks.

Eazy.. Excellent scene with the tankers. Thanks for the info as I have only seen pics of both
Mitch

If pushed to choose I'd go for the Figarti version. It looks right to me.
Also it was such a great day at that London show last year when Clive surprised everybody with the Firefly and Winter 88.
The downside to the Figarti version is I've had some paint flaking off on the front though Simon has kindly offered to fix it for me.
Overall I'm very happy and fortunate to have both versions.

Hi Mitch- it was a problem witha particular batch of paint I think that wasn't mixed properly. It only seemed to affect the Long Tom and Firefly if I remember correctly. I've got quite a few Figarti tanks and have had no other paint problems.

Eazy..

Cheers for that. puts the concerns a little to rest

I thought that Birmingham was going on the power grid this year? :D:D The gaslight isn't very bright and gives the photos a yellow tint. :D:D Wraith lives in the Midlands too, and he is on the power grid. :D:D

Funniest thing I have heard on here yet!!! I went to University in Lincoln and they still drove around on carts!!!! and married their sisters by law.

Yeah, but we're rationed to an hour of electrickery per day. Luckily, my PC is powered by a team of 6 hamsters hooked up to a generator / hamster wheel combo, which means that as long as I crack the whip, they provide enough energy to keep my compu

Yep have to admit they are horrible photos but the story why involves a 2mega pixel camera phone, a broken light bulb and a 40 watt lamp.
feel free to add in any further element to make the story a little more exciting! :)

Back on subject to an untrained eye like mine I cant see that much difference in the muzzle brakes. I think it's just the fact that only the tip of the K&C version is painted black that makes the visual difference maybe?

The incorrect muzzles on the Firefly(s) isn't such a big issue to me. However I do wonder why the K & C version has so much junk in its trunk. I know the Firefly had an extra bin behind the turret but two looks a bit crowded to me.

There were 3 different bustles on Fireflies. I have not seen all 3 types in photos so I don't know what they all look like. I can't say if the K&C bustle is of a type I haven't seen.

Here are 3 photos of actual Firefly muzzle brakes. They are quite rounded. I don't think the real shape has been captured by either model.

Have you any shots of the elefant behind or, was it always covered? Sorry ignore that when I first glanced the white looked like it was covered. I watched a restoration programme recently on the elefant. very interesting wonder, if its the same one? Bit of track there but, the muzzle issue does not look a huge difference to my eye. I did mention the double box when it was released you surely, could carry some kit in their.

I bet this is what we are all thinking of as 'classic', but judging from the survey of pics on the web, it seems to be in the minority. The main muzzle brake seems to be the one used on our two models.

The main and only muzzle brake I've ever seen on probably 50+ photos of wartime Fireflys is the rounded one which is definitely different from the K&C model. I have a 1/35 kit of the VC Firefly I'm going to build soon and the muzzle brake is captured correctly on it as in the wartime photos.

Not meaning to be too critical of K&C here, but they dropped the ball on the muzzle. It's really probably a minor issue for most, and even a non issue for some, but for me it's a problem. No big deal though, K&C is still probably my favorite manufacturer... nobody's perfect.

Duke,

Were you a tanker?

No Brad, but as a kid I grew up building armor models (mainly WWII) and tanks have always been of great interest to me. My grandfather was a captain in Patton's 3rd Army in WWII and used to tell me stories about being on the front in France and Germany. I think this is why I've always been so interested in WWII.
