Hey Tom...

Not sure which studio it is, but that is Czar Nicholas II (Nicholas Romanov), murdered with his family in 1918. And that is a very good likeness of him!

Doesn't look like a Niena base, and they are usually very good at identifying themselves. Can you get a better pic of the underside of the base; it looks as if it identifies the sculptor and painter, but I don't recognize that star trademark.

Tom-
According to the Aeroart book, it shows that star symbol on the bottom representing the Arsenyev Studio.

I will get a better photo of the base but being the dummy I am, i have the aeroart book and forgot to look there! I think it might be Arsenyev. I obtained this in a bulk buy and forgot I had it.

Here is a link to a web page from Arsenyev's studio, Russian Vityaz, showing what appears to be the that figure. Scroll down to the Russian personality section and this figure is the first one.

Thanks for the link. I have the FDR figure and a Churchill figure, except the Churchill one I have is a little different. Pierre has the Stalin.

Are the figures on this page still available. There are some real nice ones there.

Tom - Nice figure - it made it's way to you via me , I bought it in Chicago in 2009. The seller did mention Aeroart to me when I purchased it, I was a steal for me , but just did not fit into my collection...Enjoy..Greg:)

Figure is Russian Tsar Nicolas II; and is one of two figures made to show his life it was made in 1996 by the artists of the "Russian Vityaz" studio.
Here is the other one , it goes for around $300.00 . Hope this helps answer your question . Gebhard

I'm not sure Brad. You'd have to send an e-mail to someone who deals with these figures (i.e. Kolobob http://www.soldiers-russia.com/)

Brad-
What is different about your Churchill figure? I have several of these figures:

Doug,

I will post a photo tonight but he's in a different pose. Also FDR looks a bit different. I wonder if some other studio decided to make a slightly less expensive version.

I won this on Ebay a few years ago from Gideon. I recall that Pierre really wanted the Stalin so he purchased that one and I kept the other two.

Take a look under the base and see if it has some type of symbol like Tom's figure. That can be used to id the maker.

The Yalta figures are available from various studios in different finishes, but I think they're all from the same castings. There's an eBay seller who has them up in a current auction, too. I also recall seeing them in a catalog that I got for a while back in the 90's, that sold Soviet and East Bloc army surplus and Russian goods, like lacquered boxes, Matrushka dolls, and linens. It included toy soldiers, some of which were Niena, and in the basic matte finish, "Chinese" style.

Prost!

I got a set of the Yalta figures as a gift, and it came with the catalogue you are describing.
