Rob I all most asked you for the same bet that you had with Wayne. But time ran out and I keeped quiet. But the English cricket team ambushed us and beat us all over the field. It's a shame the Australian cricket team played the way they have but you can only play as good as the other team lets you. Time to rebuild and blood. Simmo.;

Thanks Simmo thats very sporting of you. Australia have ruled World Cricket for sometime now and as you say in another post many sports go through cycles where one team dominates. We really deserved to hold onto the Ashes but mustn't get complacent now. World Cup and then a visit from India coming up. Cheers Simmo.

I'm sure Wayne will be back soon, looks like I need to choose a figure now!.
We really have played well havn't we. In the past when we've played Australia I've sometimes thought we were too defensive and timid, but in this series we've really gone on the attack both with bat and ball, been great to watch. I can't decide which have been better actually,our bowlers or batsmen both have performed superbly.And how about Alistair Cook, 766 runs in this series was it?!

I can't really think of a time recently when we have played so well all round. Its been excellent watching. Feel quite sorry for Wayne as he was so sure they would win.

What's that sound? Is it an AFV? No. Just Thomson and Lillee rummeging through their closets for their caps for next year so the Aussies will have some reliable bowling. Although with age I hear Thompson has become a spin bowler.

With a 3 innings series defeat like that, I think Wayne should be up for a Grant at least. Or maybe he might have an old Crusader that Obee could paint a red Kangaroo on the side to make it look like it came from the 9th Cavalry Division. Just to give it that Aussie flavour.

Has anybody being paying attention ? I am flabbergasted, dumbfounded, shocked etc etc.
Consider :
a) that Rob uses the Union Jack as his avatar.
b) he is clearly patriotic.
c) appears to love English military history.
and d) is great fan of what the British did during the Battle of Britain and WWII.
Well what I can't understand is how it is only during this bet that he decides to get a Winston Churchill figure !!!! Surely his home is a shrine to Winston.
I know for a fact Wayne has one and has even posted pictures of his.

Sorry but that is a poor excuse. What would have happened if you lost the Ashes ? He should have been first in your collection notwithstanding sporting events. Perhaps you previously had a Winston bet based on England winning the Football World Cup !!!!.
