Why produce these? (referring to the latest LAH figures)
I'm a great fan of K&C, but why these?????
I think these are disgusting and will attract a lot of negative flak!
I dare any dealer in a New York mainstreet to show these in their showcase!
Their windows won't last for more than 10 minutes.
And to think of it that K&C actually wants to make money by marketing these
disgusting nazi figures makes me feel sick! This is a very, very poor choice.
K&C can do much better, but why these??
I hope that this will draw the attention of Jewish organisations
and victims of the nazi regime!

Excellent post.

Humbug...

That is your opinion. Once again another poster cries for the ''jewish authorities'' to come on and get involved. Perhaps they have sufficient other issues to deal with. These figures or representations of them have been on sale for many decades and, its always the same thing.

Ban Ban Ban and more censorship from the vocal groups who shout the most. Nobody on here or elsewhere boasts about buying LAH figures to insult holocaust victims or survivors yet, some want the very freedoms that were fought for in WWII to be renaged because it does not somehow sit with their moral code. If we ban parade figures then next are military units perhaps, we will ban Totenkopf, Das Reich, LAH, any swastika air flags as it supports the regime and, the rest. ban the german cossacks for their brutality against russian civillians and partisans any german police as they heavily assisted in the deportation and execution after the army units had taken areas then, the Heer themselves for their active role in the ability to destroy large portions of the local communities invaded.

Then we can really get started, ban the russian troops from all manufacturers, for the millions they tortured and killed not only their own people but, rumanians poles bulgarians the millions of german women raped and terribly abused in the victory over eastern germany and Berlin.

Where can we go then??? perhaps, the chinese and japanese for horrendous treatment of civillians and prisoners of war.

Any US air crew figures should be banned because of the bombing of japan and the two atomic bombs which, caused endless suffering even today and the luftwaffe and raf for killing hundereds of thousands of civillians. Ban modern stuff because of the controversy over the Falklands conflict, Iraq one and two Afghanistan

Whats left??... no choice for collectors because there would be no hobby. Lets get a grip of reality we deal and thrive in our hobby that deals with the history leading upto and including the second world war and, these events were nasty but, according to the ban brigade we can have lots of Waffen SS in our homes portraying the very divisions and the men who paraded and murdered civillians french italian belgian et al but, thats fine cause another allied tank in my collection means I can justify having the murderous SS in my house.

My family faught for the right for people to do as they please living in relative freedom and able to do what they wish. If anyone wants to collect SS figures in parade and, there are many more who sell them in the UK and around the world than K&C then it is their right to do so, Without the constant pointless threats of jewish intervention or other such nonsense, especially, in modern times.

I hate the phrase on here if you dont like dont buy but, if you don't like don't comment or at least have the morality to say no german items in my house full stop. Not, say parade figures are terrible tell teacher and then justify havin g other SS in your home. Its all slightly double standards to me from those only, who scream for bans
Mitch

I would have to say that some of the latest LAH figures are becomming RIDICULOUS and in bad taste....I am not defending any special interest groups.......I do have LAH parade figures in my collection as I think they have "some" historical significance....but there are limits to everything....Give me a break "Hitler Youth".??..."Drunken SS figures"??...too over the top IMO.... and becomming just plain DUMB....Simple

Oberstoskar,
Do you think that K&C or Andy for that matter will take any notice of you with comments like "K&C plain laziness". To quote a commonly use saying from my good mate Andy. "Why don't you start up your own TS company and produce better"
Have a great day.:D:D
Cheers Howard

No need to start your own company any more;)... there are already better choices out there from other manufacturers:cool:...We do have options

I have to say I agree. Other soldiers from other periods could be controversial, I suppose, but is anyone really in the same league as Nazis? My phone doesn't even want me to use the word.

Vezzolf...

Fair comment at least its not ban them. The berlin range has previously addressed SA and HJ figures marching and band figures etc. What I just cannot understand is the emotion from some its a fact of hitory that these things happened and, if people can get so irrate about toy soldiers what do they make of the world at war and the programmes aimed at the rise of Hitler. Plenty of SA HJ SS portrayed their does that turn their stomachs and, should this not be banned as promoting the regime.

It takes a strange character in my mind to see toy soldiers and then become alligned to the ideology of the nazi's it is already existing in the person to be that way inclined rather than seeing a toy soldier and thinking I want to opress jews or such like its a nonsense.

Its historical accuracy that everyone screams for in their figures and tanks and when Andy does it with this range its repulsive. Perhaps a new hobby for those who cannot stand such stuff as its all a portrayal of what has happened and, IMO no way condoning what happened.

Banning and censorship makes it all the more alluring to the oddballs who allign themselves to the ideology of the nazi's or, indeed any groups similar and there are a few about.
Mitch

I hear you Mitch...As you know I collect some LAH...I am not big on banning items.....But some of this new stuff is becomming "repulsive".....There is a "point" where it depicts K/C in a bad light....Sorry but I think that most people will draw the line on LAH at some level......The Berghoff for me was just plain stupid IMO and that's where I decided enough was enough......The best way to protest an "offensive" release is expess your views...then it will be up to collectors to refuse to purchase the product in question....I would find it amazing if some of this JUNK sells well.

Guys, we have done this subject to death. There are people that collect them and people who don't, because we the Allies won the Second World War we are free to do as we please.Their are passionate views on both sides of the argument, lets not ruin a thread thats celebrating the latest releases with this again. As someone who has pretty strong views and have I admit contributed to threads about the subject being shut down in the past, please lets not go there again. It will end with irate members and the thread being locked. :(

There are lots of other goodies in this latest Dispatch, apart from aforementioned LAH, we have Egyptians, Crusaders, Panzerfaust guys etc. I am definitely going to get me some of them there Petrol drums, going to build me a fuel dump at some point:cool: You all remember the final scene in that classic and stunningly accurate 'Battle of the Bulge' don't you. Superb historical realism throughout the film .....now theres a final statement to argue about!%^V;):salute::

Thing is its the ''one mans meat is anothers poison'' kind of scenario. There must be a significant proportion of the collecting population that buy these item across the world or, they would not be made time and time again. I do think this forum is seen as a yardstick for the collecting world but, I would suggest that it does not. The money that is made by the companies this is a drip in the ocean. I just cannot see that everyone who collects is either wrong or, a sympathiser to the ideology.

I can see what your saying about the Berghoff and did expect that to have issues as even academically, it has been hard for some to come to terms with the fact that the perpetrators of such acts were rather normal people with family's some very religious and, did not have horns from their heads and, were still able to do what they did. Thats not justification just a fact.

I think it probably annoys people also that this range has been a flagship range for K&C for many many years and looks as popular as ever as it is with other manufacturers.

Rob...

The Battle of the Bulge was not accurate??? No wonder my tigers look strange. Thats a great scene for a diorama german tanks creeping towards a GI held petrol dump. I am expecting some foam board tommorow so, may make that scene.

Hello Mitch

Ok- Trust me, I hear what you are saying- here are my thoughts:

I was asked by a fellow collector the other day why KC collectors get so fired up and angry about things- in general, we seem a confrontational bunch. I explained that I believe it is because of the realism KC attempts to attain with their troopers- this realism does provoke an emotional response. These items, good, bad or indifferent, are works of art and, as such, they are going to elicit strong opinions/ emotions. I recall when the shot up rangers came out and there was a lot of controversy as this, from some collectors points of view, as this was one of the first mass produced sets where actual blood was depicted on a figure. Toy soldiers has historically tried to steer clear of the ugliness of war and retain the innocence of parades, etc. KC really seemed to bring it to another level.

Regarding the LAH, I will not disagree this is easily one of their best selling lines- many dealers have told me that. The LAH series, seemingly to be collectively the most historically accurate, is comprised mostly of parading Germans- fine. But let me ask you this- what does a parade do- it is a moment of celebration. When I marched in parades, they were to commerate some special, patriotic event. To me, this set invokes images in collectors minds of the glorification of nazi Germany and what it stands for- with me? I know it does to me- that is what a parade is to me- a collaborative community celebration of some sort.

So how does this differ from Say 12thSS units and other german field units- simple- those are combat units- toy soldiers displayed in a combat action. There is a difference to me- especially being prior service- I wore the uni- as did my grandfathers who served- we all took an oath to defend the US from enemies foreign and domestic. The displaying of German wehrmacht units essentially levels the playing field or simply is an attempt to display, in miniature form, combat actions. There is a difference, in my military mind anyway- one is a parade which celebrates an event, person or thing, the other is a display of a combat scenario.

Do we really need to see children displayed as part of this- historically accurate- yes? In good taste- not particularly- again, my op.

This sort of thing is just the nature of the beast that KC started sometime ago- achieving hyper realism to appeal to collectors with deeper pockets. I have said it continually- I do not begrudge people who collect this stuff-unless I am of the op that they are neoNazis- some of my closest collecting chums collect this. But I can see how collectors get irked over this stuff. Again, I don't buy it because it appears to me that it is a glorification of Nazism- plain and simple- like me.

I thought this was great as a kid watching it and, even though, as you pointed out, its not as accurate as it could be its one of those top films I never get sick of
Mitch

Here we go again
Personnally i would collect SOHK before LAH
LAH sells 10 times more than SOHK maybe more
LAH figures comes out 10 times more than SOHK WHY???
LAH very popular range , very collorful
Din't CS started a LAH serie and adding to it?? WHY??
TG is starting some parade units
The new releases from KC about LAH is only a true account
what happened in Germany in a certain period of time.
I quess nobody can deny that. It's HISTORY
Any LAH collectors can make a realistic dio with these figures.
If u collect them and like them BUY THEM
If u don't collect them or don't like them DON'T BUY THEM
Why is LAH so popular and one of KC best seller??
Any one can fill me in on this
Regards Maple Leaf
