Its a cold damp day here in south central Wisconsin. At this moment (11:15 a.m. CT) its only 60 F and steadily raining. The cloud coverage has been effective at blocking out a good portion of the sun light to such an extent that we have the lights on in the house. What a great excuse to do nothing but enjoy my First Legion figures. Here's a little homestead scene I created yesterday using the farmhouse and smokehouse from Traverse Dioramics, and a grassy base and foliage pieces from Hudson & Allen. The backdrop is an actual photograph of Seminary Ridge at Gettysburg taken by Ken & Ericka Osen . . they had the photo enlarged to 32" x 20" and mounted on 1/4-inch foam board . . . . one of my favorite backdrops to use . . .

Here's a different historical perspective using the same scenic elements. I think the Traverse Dioramis buildings work ideally for both 18th & 19th century scenarios . . .

It's the same miserable day here too Mike, only thing is I am stuck at work. These photos have cheered me up though. All 3 manufacturers go so well together to create a stunning dio.

Hey, I wish I could check out the forum when I'm at work!^&grin Mike, your pics are top notch, as always. The versitility of these new Traverse Dioramics pieces are displayed very well and they certainly go well with your H & A scenic pieces.

Mike

Those 2 excellent scenes capture how several important eras of history could traverse the same landscape. Perhaps in your examples Pennsylvania or Virginia. After all the ACW is often called the 2nd American Revolution.

I know how much you look forward to your rainy days Mike like I do knowing you'd be sharing your play time with us. Great photos an settings and thanks for sharing todays play time with us................Joe

Mike....beautiful pictures as always...you're becoming quite the photographer...

Great pictures Mike:salute:: No rainy days forecast this side of the pond, in fact we should be getting temps in the low 80's by the end of the week and wall to wall sunshine

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thank you very much everyone; Scott, Noah, Randy, Joe, Michael, Martyn, and Walt . . . .

I concur with all of your observations Randy. When I saw these buildings I thought southern/southwestern Pennsylvania, northern Virginia, Maryland. My wifes GG Uncle (John Ayres Entsminger, Company E, 52nd Virginia Infantry) wrote to his older brother (my wife's GG Grandfather) that if it was good enough for their grandfather (a Rev War veteran, and my wife's GGGG Grandfather) to be called a Rebel then it was good enough for him to be called a Rebel also.

fantastic - what brand are those tress you are using?
Walt

Walt, the grassy base and all the trees and bushes were made by Hudson & Allen (Ken & Erica OSen) . . .

Here are some more photos, this time using the 5th Regiment of Foot figures . . .

I have been asked on the W. Britain forum if W. Britain and First Legion ACW figures are compatible. I thought I would provide a couple of comparison photos and post them on both forums. In these photos, starting on the left (Sgt with raised arm) every other figure is FL. The rest are WB. Size wise they are the same height and I feel that they blend in nicely with each other, especially when placed in a large mass.

Mike, those FL and WB Civil War figures do seem to work well together. Thanks for posting these pics. Also, I am more than a little jealous at your ability to crank out pics of such great set-ups so quickly!

Lovely batch of photos, Mike. And it is nice to see how well the WB and FL figures work together. The possibilities for huge formations of troops at your house has just increased significantly it seems. Looking forward to many more scenes. :)

Carlo,

Like Mike mentioned, the "Hatchet Creek" farmhouse is available here at Treefrog as well as other fine retailers, and at our site. The new smokehouse was unveiled at the Chicago Show and is a Traverse Dioramics exclusive, soon to be available on our site. Look for that by the end of the week.

Mike,
Stellar layout and photography; all the pieces work together beautifully. It's a treat to see our structures come alive with the H&A scenics and your figure collection. Thanks for sharing these.

Best,
Dave
