The Jagdpanther certainly looks a great model. Pity the markings and crew uniforms are wrong.
All shot up and no where to go. Cheers, Robin.
And whats wrong with this Vehicle...........^&confuse^&confuse
Very nice JP; And very nice dio as well.
Who made the building ?
The Jagdpanthers in Normandy never carried the markings of the 9th SS Pz Div Hohenstaufen, they served with the Heer 654 Schwere Pz Jaeger Battalion. They were therefore not crewed by members of the Waffen SS.
There were only a few Jagdpanthers in Normandy which appear to have come from the battalion's third company. One of their notable successes was when three Jagdpanthers attacked the British 6th Guards Tank Brigade on 30th June 1944 during Operation "Bluecoat"destroying 13 Churchills in the process. Two of the Jagdpanthers were later found abandoned nearby. The attack was lead by in vehicle "311" commanded by Leutnant Scheiber although this officer lead his vehicles forward into the attack on a motor-bike!
However "311" was damaged during the attack and was one of the abandoned Jagdpanthers.
Perhaps CS believes that Waffen SS sells better than Heer.
Cheers for that is the winter one correct ?????
Probably not for the Ardennes. Some heavy anti tank units equipped with Jagdpanthers were used to make up the numbers lost in the Summer and Autumn in those Panzer divisions such as the 12 SS and Panzer Lehr taking part in the attack. Stug III were used to make up the numbers in the 9th SS. However, in 1945 during the fighting in Hungary the Jagdpanther was being used by the 9th SS. I must admit that the divisional insignia strikes me as being somewhat on the large size. Perhaps CS were referencing a photo.
Hope you enjoy the model when you get yours. I'm a fan of the Jagdpanther myself. There is a real one on display at the Imperial War Museum only a short distance from where I work. I hope to see the CS model itself at the Toy Soldier Show in London in a couple of weeks time.
