We've not seen the forthcoming K&C eastern front releases yet, and yet I have said ' No, I mustn't deviate, I must stick to collecting plan of D day, Bulge, RAF, North Africa, Arnhem etc. And then this pm I sit down and watch 'Greatest Tank battles- Kursk ' , an excellent prog, a mix of computer animation and veterans interviews and am watching Stugs, T34's,Tigers,Ferdinands etc......suddenly a thought crosses my mind like a tumbleweed in the street in a John Wayne Western and I'm thinking 'Well maybe just one AFV or maybe two' ......how addictive is this hobby{eek3} Do any of you guys also fold like a piece of origami?

Please tell me its not just me:redface2::wink2:

No Rob - it's not just you, but you are the poster child for swaying. :D Just like with not collecting any North Afrika, we will hear the rumble of a K&C T-34 makes its way through the London streets to your house. I hope you're not going to argue - that would be 2 resolutions shot with one bullet. {sm3}

Rob...

Don't you have the tiger I which, is DR at Kursk and snow tiger portrays the early Leningrad tiger deployment??? You are already there if you have. all we need for this new eastern front is a few russians.

We also have Wiking beetle car for the eastern front lots of the german troops can be used their also. All that is missing is the terminology K&C use for naming their releases

Looks like its crept up on you without you really knowing mate
Mitch

Rob , I know exactly what you mean . Watching War Horse , I was all about WW1. Then I watched an old movie last night on TV , Rogue's March and I was all about the Northwest Frontier . However , I am sicking to my focus on (WB) ACW which was peaked by visits to Fredericksburg and Gettysburg . I bend in the wind but hopefully won't break

Kirk

{eek3}{eek3}{eek3} You are right Mitch, I do have that, and the last T34! So I guess I can say that I didn't fold at all because I was already in!^&grin:wink2:

Seriously though, I'm terrible for watching docus and then wanting to buy items from that era:rolleyes2: I saw on twitter the other day that there is a website up and running called Waterloo200.org....I'd better not start looking at that either!

Rob

We know that Rob could be easily swayed if Jenn was in the picture!

He's probably already pre-ordered some of the Russian pieces from K&C UK and arranged to pick them up at the next London show. :rolleyes2::D

Dear Rob:

Ah yes, I have had to admit to being a "toy soldier addict" as well. For just one example, I remember back in 1994-1995 that I was going to be quite satisfied with a K&C "Streets of Old Hong Kong" display area of about 30 by 10 inches. Then in 1996 I saw the splendid looking bridge with two jetty or dock sections set and I soon decided that "I just have to have it"! My SOOHK display is currently on a display area of 84 by 29 inches. I guess plans are made to be changed at times. After just 20 years of collecting having passed I like to think my toy soldier addiction is under control, but I am still very much interested in our hobby. As Andy Neilson always says, "Happy Collecting".

"Iron Brigade" / Gary

Hey Gary, there is no doubt about it this hobby is really addictive and at the same time so enjoyable. Glad to hear you are hooked on SOHK, I don't collect these but they are quite simply stunning figures and I always look at them in London as I find the choice of sets fascinating. For me the sets featuring people preparing or eating food at tables are just great, if I won the lottery I'd be in no doubt:)

All the best

Rob

The Soviet T-34 was the #1 WWII tank according to the military channel's top ten tanks program which has aired numerous times. Massed produced, sloping armor, great speed and good firepower overwhelmed the German panzers.
IMO this tank needs to be done again.....maybe T-34/85 Winter version or whatever but another version should be a welcome addition by most collectors....:rolleyes2: as far as being swayed...no. Buy what "you" like. Buying what interests others could be a form of being swayed.
Regardless I buy what I like as part of the collecting fun.

Don't know about overwhelming the panzers but, once the germans moved to the 75mm they outgunned the russian tanks and when the 88mm entered service in tanks they picked of the T -34's at great range with ease. The docs always try to make out that thousands of T-34's sped over the open plains of russia and it just was not that true.
Mitch

PA,I love the original T34 , the paint job and finish on the Tank are excellent, but I wonder what a new version would be like with K&C's up to date improvements? Myself I'd like a T34/85 but to be honest any Russian armour would be cool.

No question the 88 could pick off tanks at long ranges whether it was Kursk,Normandy or Alamein, awesome weapon, but there was close quarter action at Kursk I understand and ramming of Tanks by the other side. Also the shoot and scoot tactic did on occasion negate the Tiger and its slow traverse, the Americans at Arracourt used this to great effect, not sure if the Russians did at Kursk or not though.

Rob..... NO NEVER!!!!!!!!/Not at all!! Once i make a decision it stays!!. Well maybe once in a while i might just change my mind..OK,OK maybe
once every New Dispatch!!!......OH Heck yes!! all the time!!!!...HELP.

Steve

I agree that the German armor outgunned the T-34's. Problem was there were many more of them than the panzers such as Kursk, Russian tanks ran up to German tanks and rammed them, sometimes driving up on the stunned panzers.
The military channel program covering the top 10 tanks was not a documentary but a program designed to identify what was the #1 vehicle based upon : production numbers, speed, firepower, armor. Taking into consideration all of these attributes the T-34 ranked 1st.That being said a Tiger or King Tiger remain 2 of my favorites from the period. :)

PA...

Thats one of the myths associated with Kursk that outgunned T-34's rammed german tanks and everyone burned to death well. the germans anyway. Its been disproved from many accounts as russian propaganda. The t-34 like the sherman was so mass produced without doubt but, they were never fielded in such huge numbers like some of the books and docs make out.

Would have thought the panther would have won in all of these criteria when they got it sorted out.
