Combat

You are right ! I said that and I cant believe that was all the research that was done on it. I certainly expected more - that is for sure.

Thats one reason why I felt we have hit this time and time again. And enough already - how many ways do we need to say it???

Andy - said thats all he needed was that one book to decide to do the Jet and end of story. So there you go - issue over. Buy it or leave it - right?

Also Combat

What does my statement have anything to do with Steven being rude to me ?

Steven

I dont think I like your tone :)

All I was saying was we have beaten the fact that this is not a real German Aircraft over and over - thats all. I mean how many times did it needed to be rehashed - thats all and for that matter its my opinion - like it or not.

It was not a comentary on all the subjects at hand - which if you read my originial posting - I pointed out was good. I like lots of discussion - but, IMO - it was starting to sound like more Andy bashing.

So please read the posting before you criticize. :D

Ron
Dear Ron,

I happen to read all the posts on this forum, including your several hundred posts simply referring to Napoleon.:D You appear to misunderstand my post and need to read it again.:) First, I simply acknowledged the consensus, including your own, that the Rammjager was not real as the preface to repeating Andy's statement: "Buy it if you like it ... Don't buy it if you don't like it." This was the point I was trying to make. Moreover, most of the previous posts on the existence of the Rammjager was not a constant rehash that it was not real. Initially, there were questions because the basis of WS100 was a very obscure aircraft. Only after Andy posted the reference was there posts concluding the Rammjager was not real. As pointed out by Combat, not all the posts concerned the existence of the Rammjager -- "Some discussion on nazi wonder weapons. Some on Andy's response."

Secondly, please understand I am not criticizing the tone of your posts. However, I do question the tone of other posts. All the subjective reasons posted for buying or not buying the Rammjager are legitimate. Collectors should be free to rationalize their purchasing decisions anyway they want, and there is no need to question them about their reasons.

Steven

Then you and I are in total agreement :D

I have always maintain that people's collections are there own - to do it with as they seem fit. Buy, Sell or Trade - its their property and their right.

A few others on this forum do not agree with that statement and feel they can have reason to question collectors actions on their collections. Those of you who are reading this and do such actions like this know who you are...;)

I am not going to take the time to point out each posting that has beat this dead horse - because it just further the point that beating it is conituing - however, I will say it has stop now and great - lets move on.

I think WS100 is nice model and I plan to buy it for my collection. But, I have always agreed with Pierre & Combat that we all had a right to know if this was an actual German Weapon System in WWII or NOT - and now we know :)

Hi Guys,

Just a little side note to Capitolron...Hi Ron re your comment about Steven Chong being rude to you. Honestly, I’ve known and enjoyed Steven’s company for many years now and have never known him to be rude to anyone...including you.

Steven is one of the most knowledgeable toy soldier collectors around and has given me lots of useful advice and comments in the past (and I hope in the future). So, don’t worry about anything. I genuinely think you may have misinterpreted his letter...

I do it all the time and look at the “flak” I sometimes attract!

Love ‘n’ kisses, from your warm and fuzzy friend,

Andy C.

At the risk of this suggestion driving forum members to make voodoo dolls of me wrapped in the Union jack, and then proceed to stick pins in it....why don't we have a poll!;) It would be really interesting to see just how many people are where on the Rammjager.I'm buying it,would love to know how many are doing likewise or not.(at this moement i sense Brad creating that voodoo doll!!:D )

Rob

And its a shame its rather overshadowed the Launch of a superb looking model.Speaking on behalf of little ol me only, can't wait to get my K&C collecting little paws on it!.

Rob

It's K&C's best to date with the tractor (IMO) I saw the film where Hannah Ritsch flew one as a test pilot (operation crossbow) and have always wanted one. Thanks Andy it's great whether it's fact or fiction.

The Rammjager (WS100) is not the version flown by Hannah Ritsch. It was a V-1 modified by the addition of a cockpit and flight controls.:)

It's certainly fiction and was never flown by Hannah Ritsch or any other person for that matter.

Imagine trying to eject with the engine directly above your head. They were apparently supposed to give it a try rather than go down with the plane.

This is the information from Wikipedia for the term "Selbstopfer.":)

Selbstopfer (German for self-sacrifice) was a late-World War II German project to develop a "smart weapon" for attacking high-value targets such as bridges and command centers. First proposed by Otto Skorzeny, leader of the German commandos, and Hanna Reitsch, the famous test pilot. They suggested using converted V1 Flying Bombs with a tiny cockpit on top, with a pilot.

About 100 pilots, drawn from KG 200 were trained, and about 175 of the modified V-1 (named Fieseler Fi 103 Re Reichenberg) were built. Unlike the somewhat similar Japanese Kamikaze Ohka, pilots of the new Fi 103 R were intended to bail out just prior to impact, although in reality this would be difficult because of the cramped cockpit, the sharp angle of the final dive, and the fact that the cockpit was located just below the pulsejet intake.

Testing was carried out by KG 200 on several occasions, dropped from Heinkel He 111 bombers, with Reitsch herself piloting an unpowered version equipped with a wooden landing skid. The Fieseler Fi 103 Re was never used in combat. After several accidents including one where a modified example came apart in mid-air the commander of KG 200 together with the Armaments Minister Albert Speer visited Hitler and convinced him that suicide attacks were not a part of German warrior tradition.
