The Band of Brothers HBO 10 part miniseries is one of my favourites. The Attack on Foy by Easy Coy, 2/506/101 is one that I have enjoyed viewing many times over. Although there may be some degree of dramatisation for the tube/screen, I think there are good examples of combat leadership, at least up to company level.

There are the two Company Commanders: 1st Lt. Norman Dike versus 1st Lt. Ronald Spiers....what a big difference. Then, there is 1st Sergeant Carwood Lipton who was de facto commander of Easy Company from the time Capt. Richard Winters was promoted to Battalion XO and later to Battalion Commander at Bastogne. There is a tendency for history to remember the officers and leave the Senior NCOs as the unsung heroes.

Here are two clips that more or less tell the story.

I've been thinking of updating my DVD set to Bluray as it has made so much difference to other films I like, I wonder if you would get much more Bang for your buck, so to speak.

Do it Matt i have the Blu-ray tin set and it is 100% better than dvd version.

That clip shows the value of leadership under stress. It doesn't matter whether it's wartime or normal everyday situations. One of our senior executives once described stress to me as stress shows that you're alive. How you handle stress is the measure of a person.
