Well Done....
I am SO pleased that a new 25 Pounder Mark II QF Field gun has been produced, and that it looks like the real thing !!
Compare that with the old one....
The very import details are there, like the gun in firiing postion is on its firing platform, and the sheid is raised and no muzzle break.
In the travelling position, the platform is raised and located under the tail.
I can forgive that the shield is still up, and I hope that the barrel can move, and so be located in a high postion when travelling.
The gun crew are also well sculpted and in thir correct postions, with the No 4 loader holding the projectile and the No5 with the cartridge case, because they were loaded separately.
The only think thats not right is that the No2 gunner, holding the rammer is painted as a Sergeant !!!!!!!
The gun sergant commanded the gun, and would be behind the gun, the No2 should be a Bombardier, so a quick demotion would suffice (with a fine brush of khaki paint) to give him 2 stripes.
Because the gun is commanded by the Sergeant, the gunner with the raised hand ( painted as an officer) should also be demoted and have 3 striped on his arms.
Many makers seem to produce gun sets with officers, and thats SO wrong, because on the gun position only few officers are used, mainly as section commanders of 3 guns, or in the command post, while the other gunner officers are located with other corps and used as Forward Observers to call in fire missions.
Now that this gun has been made, I do hope that K&C will also release it in desert sand colour with a crew in shorts and bare chested, to lay down the barrage at El Alamein in 1942.
WELL DONE K&C.
John
P.S. I served on these guns in the RAA in the 1970's and fired the gun on the last live fire execrcise for our Regiment in 1972, before changing over the 105mm Howitzers following the conclusion of the war in Vietnam.
