Brisbane Dinner Report (1 Viewer)

Glad you had a ball mate:salute:: Now when you say for those who collect Great War, are you talking of the LH or something else?:wink2: Thanks for pics Wayne^&cool

Something else - so start saving! The Centenary approaches!

An interesting comment that Andy made about the ALH concerned the extent of its success. He said that it was, broadly speaking, created with the Australian market in mind – no surprise there – but that it had proven very successful in the UK and USA as well.
I often hear the expression about people letting their wallet do the talking but usually to explain a decision not to buy. In this case it would appear that the wallets talking belong to people buying this range because the releases just keep coming with even more in the pipeline. The prototypes – due in November I think – are very, very impressive. There was also talk of the addition of the ambulance wagon which will please Bob (Fitzgibbon) enormously.

Just got home after the flight from Brisbane. I will download Andy's Q&A session from my tape recorder tomorrow and post. I had a quick preview. Its a big scratchie as Andy had a remote mike and moved away from the recorder quite often. I will try and decode and decipher the session and post asap.
Many thanks to all that attended and also to Brett and Gerelou for a great two days. Chewing the fat with the Brissy boys after weeks earlier having done the same things with the Texans and UK wild ones has been a highlight of this year to date.
Cheers Howard

Next year I will bring a digital recorder. As an historian seeing you using a tape was quite interesting but as a friend I was embarrassed for you!

Toddy mate,
I will back my good mate Wayne up with that statement. Yes I did hear Andy mention the NZ Mounted Rifles. Where would the Charge of Beersheeba have been if it wasn't for our Kiwi brothers taking the heights of Tel el Saba and preventing Turkish fire from raining down of the Aussies as they charged. Also the Aussies gave thanks to the British Notts Battery of QF 13 pounders that took out all the Turkish MG positions with great accuracy. Did I say the Notts Battery were being released, must have been a slip of the tongue.^&grin
Cheers Howard

Howard, that's awesome news and thanks heaps for the feedback mate. I'm going to have to start saving the pennies big-time and somehow tap into the wife's housekeeping funds while she's out{eek3}. I have a real soft-spot for the Australian Light House movie and all things desert, so the Kiwi mounted blokes are a bit of a dream really. I'm fairly certain too, that there's going to be a few others over here that will be most impressed also....
Cheers Andy:salute::

Another great K & C dinner night, the meal was excellent and the 30th Birthday cake very tempting, not enough time to catch up with everyone but I did meet some newbies and I hope at least one will join the forum as we do need more pendants here I feel, especially those specializing in horsies.

Once again I didn't win a thing in the 'lucky' draws, I suspect my imitation moleskin microfiber jacket limited my chances, lady luck clearly preferred those in genuine velvet.

BTW I do intend to carryout my threat of a regular (more or less) attendance at the Saturday morning meet up at Ye Olde, but recently tidied, Toy-shoppe.

Matt

Rob,
I'm sure Howard will give a more fuller report after he's had a nap after his big day out in Brissy, but Andy did say he was thinking about some sort of Great War Commonwealth troops and I made some not so subtle demands for 'Big Artillery', service troops and rear area types which he did not dismiss out of hand so who knows what may appear but he is very aware of the Centenaries coming up and I'm sure K&C will deliver some great things over the next couple of years.
Wayne.
