Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the many positive comments on the latest “DISPATCHES”.

Re the above artillery piece the gun and cover are mixed media – polystone, resin and metal. The stone base is polystone…Hope this info helps.

Thanks also to “Poppo”…happy to hear he’s learning so much from our work. It’s always nice to share with others.

Best wishes and happy collecting!

Wouldn't care if it was made from cardboard its a superb release...................^&grin

Andy thank for the imformation on the German Coastal Gun , which complements the commandos and D-DAY very we'll , is there any plans for a bunker to go with it at a later date ?
Thank in advance

Hi Guys, hi Subs,

To answer your question… Yes we have in development more coastal defences however no plans for some kind of reinforced concrete shelter for this particular gun.

It would be pretty darn big!!! Although we could make one... the shipping and postal charges would, in my opinion, be prohibitive. Hope this helps,

Andy C.

It helps a little but it at this point, I don't think it's necessary. It looks like all of the manufacturers are already doing mixed media or are transitioning into it to keep some weight to the piece. All the FL AFVs are resin as are all of the JJD Spanish Civil War tanks and WWI biplanes and AFVs. Figarti has for a long time been using some resin/metal parts with some polystone. And now K&C is doing it too. Some of their AFVs already have had some resin parts. Britains has said plastic resin is the way forward.

I think the issues are

1. getting used to the lighter weight of AFVs and especially the artillery pieces
2. getting value for money - the perception is that resin AFVs should be cheaper but that isn't necessarily true
3. Not mistaking plastic resin for the cheaper, less detailed plastic like the K&C Sherman. I think coming out with that tank has confused the cost issue of cheaper plastics vs. high quality plastic resins

Now you've done it. {eek3} Don't go giving Andy the idea that there is a market for cardboard AFVs, cannon and fortifications :rolleyes2:^&grin

Hi Terry,

I read you on your conclusions, but I need to point out to you that those of us that have been collecting soldiers, AFVs,Artillery and military soft skinned vehicles for over 2 decades or more can testify that when these auxiliary items to the actual soldiers were made from metal the feeling and the accuracy was higher...plus we had the fun to assemble them....
Great manufacturers such as but not only of the likes of Mountford, Hinchliffe, Toy Army Workshop, Superior Models, Gunze Sangyo( Metal segment ) and Modelkasten .....are no longer amongst us to allow the new comer to the Hobby to experience the joy of holding on to an artillery tractor and its complement of artillery all made in nice cold metal and with all the details you would find is a real deal.....
But then these are the changes that take place to allow business to flow....at least we have these poly - plastic ones.....worst would be to have none.....{sm2}{sm3}{sm3}
One thing that the new poly - plastic/metal approach has given us are fantastic new diorama sets that we never had in the past...and K&C/Britains ( under First Gear ) are a hallmark for the dioramas, I am a great fan of them.....
Those of us that have these earlier models will cherish them and when we die our wifes most likely will send them to auction houses{sm2}{sm2}{sm2}...just wish that they get bought by some one that will understand and enjoy them^&cool^&cool
Cheers

I'm one of the 2 decades collectors and am having trouble adjusting to the light weight feel of resin - especially for field pieces for the exact reason you say

Terry

Very nice gun, I could see a bluff with 3-4 guns on top in their bunkers looking out to a landing beach/Sea, would make a sweet diorama!!!...Sammy

Already have a new version of this Diorama base in the works, adding an additional 8" in height of the concrete platform for use with the New German Coastal Gun and using the Normandy Pillbox as an adjacent fixture as well. Will share some photos once the Coastal gun is released ! I am quite happy to get a hold of one of the new German Coastal Gun sets ! ..........soon.

Very nice scene and the base is remarkable. Just one thing, the bunker should be so damaged after the battle and not before it :cool:

Poppo, The Germans took some shots at the Bunker to see how it would stand up to an Allied attack. Rommel came out to view the results ! Enjoy {sm3}

Dear Andy

We were making a list and are checking it twice to find which collectors are naughty and Nice. Anyway many Thanks for all great things you just announced for the month of June. Especially the coastal artillerie. We are presently in Normandy and could check the way the base had been designed. Should the gun be placed into the base or on top of the base. Well, both ways are correct. So how the gun was made, it is allways right, as usual! Keep up the good work.

Umm, Schindler's List?? That being mentioned with smiles might be inappropriate. Because it was set in such a tragic place, with smiles......

My apologies, but still with that it did make people uncomfortable. Maybe Cause you referred it to something very tragic, solemn. Maybe never to be spoken about, unless with great sadness, for it to be reffered to casually and reffered to make a point about something like that in a forum about models, can be callous/ insensitive. And I did not read anything bad about the list of being good or bad.
