Hi

I recently posted pics of my recently acquired "Bombed out Street" facia on the TM Terrain page. I wanted it specifically to use with my JJD WW1 French collection.

Here are some pics of it "populated" with my French Poilus and vehicles. I shall eventually be making a terrain base for it myself, (Eventually....!)

All the Marching poilus are slightly different. I spent some time "re arranging" a few multiple sets to add a little variety - will be adding pics of them. All original poses on the left of pics.

Cheers and a Merry Christmas to everyone!

Roy

Roy, superb job altering the originals. Doubles the number of figures in your marching column. Love the bombed out village with the Poilus moving through and the use of the tank riders lounging on the steps. These are really adaptable figures. Very nice touch having the AFV's up against the walls to provide cover from aerial observation or balloon observation. Great set-up. -- Al

Fantastic shelf display Roy, and your conversions are beautifully done . . . . . the bomb damaged buildings are incredible, congrats . . . . .

Hi Bill,

The elongated facade looks great on your shelving:

Great idea there as it fits perfectly!

All looking good Roy!

I like the way you've created more Poilu's. They look great

Very nice display. Wish I had that much room. All my Poilus are crowded together and just picked up a few more!

Very nice. Those French soldiers are about the best I've seen. When I saw the photo with the soldiers sitting on the front stoop, it immediately reminded me of the scene in Saving Private Ryan before the final battle.

Thank you all for the likes, kind responses and interest in my shelf display.

I think John has caught the French Poilu superbly with this line of figures. I'm awaiting eagerly my December pre orders to come along and join them!

The pic below from one of my WW1 volumes is what I asked David at TM Terrain to loosely base the Street Facia on. I gave him the measurement of the run along the
top of my shelves and asked for the second set of tall buildings in the pic to be half demolished (so as to fit under my window!)

I think he did a great job:

Really nice all of it Roy, certainly happy that I have this series also. Look forward to seeing your terrain mat, it will just make the scene even more realistic. Have a great Christmas. Robin.

Fantastic diorama!!!
And I love the idea of small change to the figure.
the WW1 photo as inspiration is brilliant!
And the upcoming French woundeds would also look great in your diorama
well done mate :salute::

From another part of Essex! Great display - out of curiosity, the display units you used are they IKEA's or someone else?

Roy,

As others have said, you did a fantastic job on re-working the original figures into new ones. Your whole scene looks awesome. My favorite part is how you placed the tank riders on the steps and used the photographer from the KOS range. Very nice touch!

Hi graycap - thank you. Yes, IKEA's - from the Thurrock Store! They are deeper than the standard "Billy" range (the name escapes me now. I've had them for about two and a half years or so.)

Cheers, Roy

Ikea makes some very different kind of display shelves/cases at reasonable prices. I have three of the Detolfs and am thinking of adding a fourth.

Hi,
I have IKEA Billy bookcases with glass doors. Recommend them. I think Roy has the deeper type than I have, which with hindsight are better for display purposes, but they weren't on the market when I bought mine.

Agreed IKEA is the way to go for inexpensive display cases.

Outstanding display of JJD Poilus! The marching line in front of the facades is really inspired. ^&cool There is always something so impressive about seeing one theme (any theme) done in a big way with a large numbers of soldiers and machines. Well done!

Thanks for the info - I think there is another IKEA a bit nearer to me - but thank you for the info.
