Friends,

I am sad to announce that my mother passed away today in hospice. She has been hospitalized and deteriorating since she had a fall about two months ago, and had been in hospice care for about a week, so her passing was not unexpected. That being said, when I got the call this morning telling me she passed, it felt like a kick in the stomach. Towards the end she wasn't even eating or drinking, so at least she is no longer suffering.

Once I make the arrangements and get her back from Florida, I will post information about her wake here in New York, so any of you who are locally situated can join us if they care to pay their respects.

Sorry to hear about this Louis; as you said, it was not unexpected, but still devastating once you get the news. I truly hope she did not suffer and went peacefully. At times like this the phrase "She's in a better place" gets thrown around, but it is true, as children who love our parents, we do not want to see them suffer.
