Crimea was my only choice in this poll, just edging out the Orient by a whisker. I'm going to assume that the other poll thread for WWII is multiple choice cos there's 2 that I can't decide between.....Doesn't take Sherlock to figure out that they were opposition to each other and operated not a stones throw away from the Southern Mediteranean....:):)

Another thing that is instantly clear already is just how popular the Crusaders are.Not surprising really as they are wonderful figures.Oh if i had a little more money.

It'll be interesting to see the poll once our friends across the pond start voting. I notice there's zilch support for the AWI and ACW at the moment, but that's bound to change in a few hours from now.

Cheers

Absolutely.I would be interested to see how popular the ACW gets, people say its popularity is waning compared to say five years ago.

Rob

Is anybody suprised that the Crusades has bypassed Napoleonics as the second most popular K&C line in this poll?

Hi All

I put one down for the NAPs ... and another for the AWI.

Was that cheating ?

:p OD

Hi Brad-

I already voted for the Orient but was not aware that this is a multiple choices poll.

Accordingly, would you please add another vote for me? Crimean War of course :)

I thank you,
Pierre.

It still shocks me that the ACW is just not that popular.I thought our good friends across the pond would devour this range when released by K&C.Maybe everyone who is interested in this conflict already had there collection?.

I also thought Naps would be a clear second fave, not so it appears.

From the posts I saw on the subject I got the impression the ACW collectors were kind of dissapointed with the poses of K&C's releases. A lot of figures just standing around instead of being in the action.

Eazy I agree 100%.
I started my collection of ACW figures a few years ago when my spare coin of the realm became more flexible-collection is now over a 1000 figures-. I wanted to build a large scale diorama and was in a position to either go with the new (at the time) K&C 1/30th size figures or invest in the standard 54mm Britains/Conte etc range as the size difference would make them impossible to mix and match. I was offered the now retired first series of K&C ACW figures but to be perfectly honest I was far from impressed with them-although they were action posed they appeared to be "clunkish" with cartoonish features and the prone figures either laying/firing or dead/wounded were sat on a very ugly and imposing metal base. Why?. Consequently, I went 54mm which gave me a wider choice of action poses and dare I say in most cases more realistic features.

I sure am glad I did as the new K&C ACW sets, which although are now much better sculpted than their predecessors, are unfortunately, exactly as Eazy describes them, all completely static poses with absolutely pristine laundered uniforms (now that was a rarity in Lee's Reb Army) that can only be displayed in a glass cabinet rather than advancing/charging through a diorama ducking shot and shell, which therefore makes them surplus to requirement for any ACW dio builder.

I think Arnhem,ACW and WW1 Germans have one thing in common. And that is the fact that the first waves are what you might call 'Static' or Headquarters as it were.I think this acts as a base for collectors to build up there collections around HQ.The second waves tend to be more action figs,WW1 Germans and Arnhem for instance.Maybe the second wave of ACW will be the same. The one series of late that is an exception to the rule is the FJ's,but i guess as soon as they hit the ground their in action:D!

I have two thoughts:

1) The voting is still early and NAPOLEONICS are on their way up !!

2) WWII votes are misleading - because you dont have that section broken down to WS, LAH, AK, etc... So this section of voting will be the largest since it covers more than one Range.

Say that for you mate, you never give up!:D.I think WW2 as a whole would always be number one,Andy told me this last time i talked to him.

Completely agree that WWII will be #1 for a long time to come. But look how well the Crimea has done considering its just a wee niche era.
Really interesting poll.

Absolutely, thought it would make interesting reading.I think if we were to have another poll in a years time the Crimean will be even more popular, its growing at a rate of knots.

Yes, especially now that our friends across the pond seem to have latched onto just how good this range is. As well as a few more lancers, I'd love to see this range diversify. I honestly belive that some personality figures and The Thin Red Line would be phenomenal - guess we'll see what gives in 6 months or so. Can hardly wait to get my paws on Set 2.
It and the 1st set combined scream out for the diorama treatment. And given the terrain, it would be a relatively simple one to build.

Cheers

It certainly does lend itself to a dio.I was fortunate enough to win one of Tonys excellant dio bases for the first wave(which also has space for the second)its great and many people remark how good it is.I have to confess to them that i din't make it though:D
