    I remember when my Dad taught me how to dock our 18fter. I drove it right up on the berth and flooded the stern.:o The armored steamers had a lot of timber emplaced for "armor", and the sandbags were reserved for gun emplacements on the upper decks due to weight. At least thats what I read...
