  • Tommy,
Yes, the Metal Shed stuff is fantastic. I have to have at least one set. Hope all is well in Texas, are you a cowboys fan? Big game against the Vikings! Take care

    Tommy,
I just thought I would mention that I was relaxing tonight and I finally had a chance to look through your albums again and what an absolute pleasure it was! Beautiful collection my friend. I have not forgotten about the Durbar photos, just trying to get caught up with grading and such. Also, since I do not yet have any elephants, I feel I do not have much to add to your group! Take care

    Hi Tommy
I have quite a few that were published in the ILN between July-Dec 1882, July-Dec 1884 and Jan-June 1885. If there are any that you would like me to picture for you please let me know
    Cheers

    Tommy,
i have a quick question for you. I know you have all of the Trophy napoleonics, I am interested in a set of charging grenadiers on Ebay right know, however, it appears that all of them have the whites of their eyes! Isn't that unusual for Len and crew to paint such a detail? I have seen it once in awhile on portrait figures. What do you think? Hope all is well.

    Tommy,
So good to hear from you and I will do that soon. I did get an elephant from Treefrog but had a few problems with it and sent it back. I do have some other Durbar stuff I will post. take care.

Tommy, thank you for your friend request. I love your Durbar collection.

In one of my albums, you will find photos of Jim hillestads collection of the Durbar which got me into toy soldier collecting 1 1/2 years ago.

Being an outdoor person, my toy soldier hobby hibernates in the summer, but once the temperatures drop, I will take new photos and will certainly post them.
    Tommy,
I got my 1st Beau Geste set today and I am impressed. I think I am slowly going to put together a Durbar display. Have you been happy with this range and have the elephants shipped well? I really like the color in this range and as long as it fits into my military theme it will work! That set BG160: Ladhaki Devil Dancers Musician Monks looks incredible for a foot set. All the elephants look great, but I see a couple I like more than the rest. Any advice or info on this series? Thanks Tommy

    Hi Tommy

The original set description, from my 1991 catalogue is as follows " Consisting of a Naval Gun and Limber pulled by 6 oxen. Three sailors marching and two sailors seated" you will notice there is no mention of native drovers but three came with my set. Len would paint the sailors in khaki or blue/white uniforms, which ever you preferred. The set could also be suppied with 12 oxen. I did manage to get Len on the phone the other day but only for a very short while as he is in some pain and on morphine, I sent him your best wishes
    Cheers
