My cousin called me the other day all torqued off over the Red Sox trading their best player, Devers, to the Giants for a bag of balls, two bats and an old catchers mitt. His wife is a huge RS fan, he is too, they have a partial season ticket package.
I told him to calm down and go for a walk.
I stopped following the Red Sox when it became crystal clear their ownership group does not give two ****s about winning, it's all about how much money they can squeeze out of that dump of a ballpark with all the pink hats who show up regardless of how the team is doing.
They traded away Betts, Sale and now Devers and got fleeced each time, all three were clearly salary dumps. They've made the playoffs once in the past 6 years, finished in last place three of those years.
They are a big market team but are run like they are the Royals, Rays or A's.
If they no longer care about winning, great; I'm out as a fan and I could care less how they do, I've got better things to do with my time in the Summer.
