Things that annoy me (1 Viewer)

Thank Christ I did not select the one day shipping window, I'd be screwed had I done that, mine is 4 days just for situations like this. My mountain of orders dates back to Saturday and Sunday, neither of those days count in the 4 day window, so technically, I had until tomorrow to get them all out, they went out today, so I'm good.

It stopped snowing two days ago, the streets are still a mess and essential businesses like the post office and city hall are not open.

This state does not have enough money to pay for snow removal, they are too busy here setting aside taxpayer money for illegals, this is a sanctuary state don't forget.

If you talk to the man/woman in the streets, people around here are steaming mad over this, the next election is going to be a bloodbath; you reap what you sow.
I've given up on my state. One party has done nothing but raised taxes and is among the highest in the country with everrything but the people in my state keep putting the same kind of people in over and over. I don't get it unless they are just stupid.

I can answer for him - San Antonio, admittedly it is pretty hot there and muggy. Personally, I like North Austin and suburb/rural Dallas.
TD
Tom & Mike:

Yup, we live just north of San Antonio proper most of the time where it is forecast to be 92 degrees today. Our place in Austin shows a forecast of 90 so not much of an escape for an hour drive either.

Not bad for a summer in most of the US but it is still February and supposedly winter.

With that being said I do love Texas for a long list of reasons. If you took out the weather it is the perfect place to live.

Me too; people talk a good game, but when election time comes, the same morons will be back in power............imagine people can't get to work, can't get to the grocery store, nothing, these are US CITIZENS that are basically being ignored, when they call to find out when help is coming, the reply is "At some point, we can't say for sure" meanwhile all the illegals in this state are taken care of.

Disgusting.

Well we got 3.5 inches. Still cancelled my Monday morning flight on Sunday before one flake fell. My wife told me mail not until Tuesday and then every other day this week. Asphalt showing by 9am Monday morning. Broken State. And yes our State seeming puts illegal aliens first too in a lot of areas. Absolutely wrong but somehow people allow it and vote the same idiots in. I just don’t get it.

Annoying. Paid disruptors in local politics. Spent my week with data center projects in public meetings in local counties. 90 percent of the so called local citizens who spoke against were not actually local with most not even from the State. A reasonable person has to start asking what the heck is going on.

Imagine that simpleton in the giraffe get up is a paid protestor, been arrested in several places, that anti SOTU protest he ran was more like a bad SNL skit.

Or the other fruitloop black woman who was singing, again with the singing.

PLEASE make it stop.

"From your lips to God's ear" George, but this is Taxachusetts after all ... and (I'm so sorry) but it ain't gonna happen. Oh, we MIGHT get some wishy washy rhino republican elected governor, but he'll be stuck with a whole state house full whacko lefty loonies. Sorry George, the "minutemen" would be rolling in their grave if they knew what was going on in this state now.

There is ZERO EXCUSE, as in none why FOUR DAYS LATER people on the south coast in Duxbury and Plymouth and Fall River have not seen plow one yet.

If only Lizzie Borden was still around to axe them about it. I actually once stayed at the Lizzie Borden home in Fall River. Very cool. Netflix is doing an upcoming Monster miniseries on the crime. I'm sure it can't top that Elizabeth Montgomery version, though. That was great, 1970s vintage made for TV. Old Lizzie running around in the buff with an axe is hard to top for entertainment.

I have accumulated 5 days worth of orders that needed to be dropped off at the post office in either East Taunton or on the Green in the center of town, schlepped out of here at 9:00AM to go to the East Taunton Post Office, the roads were a pooeshow, combination of a slushy mess or worse yet, packed down icy snow, a combination of a bobsled run and a downhill run, slick as Hell, get to the East Taunton Post Office; it's closed, not shoveled, not plowed, nothing, no one there..............turn around and head to the Post Office on the Green, another bobsled run/downhill run to Taunton Center...............that Post Office is closed too, again parking lot not plowed, a guy sitting in his car said "The distribution center on Myles Standish Road is closed too, no mail coming in or going out of Taunton.

I ended up going all the way to Westwood, a 45 minute drive, I used to go there back when my Mom was alive and I'd check up on her a couple of days a week then go to the Westwood Post Office, they were open. Westwood got "just" a foot and a half, but their roads were down to the asphalt everywhere, they did a top shelf job plowing in that town.

Not for nothing, but this is ridiculous; I can 1000% understand being closed on Monday, give them a pass on Tuesday too, but today/three days later? And no lots plowed yet? So are they planning on just taking the rest of the week off and keep both post offices and the distribution center closed? So zero mail coming in or going out of the city of Taunton?

If it was 1826 or 1926 or even 1978, ok then, whatever, but it's 2026, this is unacceptable.

A disgrace is more like it; the mail situation is nothing compared to those with no power, don't get me wrong, but what a mess.

Oh and my friends in Taunton and Fall River are still stranded, no sign of a plow for three days now.

Myself and two friends of mine told them if they need anything in the way of food or God forbid, prescriptions picked up, just let us know, we'll get to them no matter what.

Again; a disgrace, God forbid there is a health emergency from someone going face down in the show while shoveling what is no longer snow and more like cement.

Your dedication to your customers is ridiculous.

Thank you for being a huge part of what makes this hobby so great.

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. I understand all the difficulties with record setting snow, but life goes on and people need to get to work and do their jobs, including me.

Thankfully, things are now pretty much back to normal.

People who think Ebay is one giant flea market.

Look, I get it, there are thousands of toy soldier sellers on there who are part time sellers, all they want to do is thin out their collection and move items out the door, wheeling and dealing is part of the process for them.

I'm a full time retailer, this is how I put a roof over my head, food on my table and clothes on my back, wheeling and dealing is not part of the process for me, it gets tiresome to be constantly bashed over the head on pricing................."What is your best price on this item/can you do better on the price"..............over and over and over.

My best price is the current price it's listed at.

Aside from a couple of dealers/maybe a handful, toy soldier shows are now for the most part indoor flea markets, loaded with collectors thinning out their collections who again are wheeling and dealing, it is what it is, we recently just lost two of the icons of our hobby from a dealer standpoint, Mike from Sierra, Tony from Toy Soldier Gallery, being a full time toy soldier dealer these days is like being at Fort Zindernuef as a member of the French Foreign Legion; who's turn is it to climb up the ladder to the watch tower?

I'm assuming that the oil companies will use the Iran conflict as an excuse to significantly increase gas prices and that the stock market is going to tank this week. It does make me laugh that grocery prices skyrocketed based on COVID shortages and high gas prices but when those issues were resolved the prices never decreased.

Yeah, prices NEVER go down.

A $1 increase in the price of a barrel of oil typically causes a 2.4 to 2.5 cent increase in the price of a gallon of gasoline.

with that formula...if a barrel of oil increases by $20....that should cost another 50 cents per gallon...

Any excuse to rip off US citizens.

Any excuse to rip off US citizens.
so true about grocery prices...they took and are taking advantage of the fact that "we got used to those high prices" and they are reluctant to lower them...

on the oil...25% of the world's crude oil consumption ships from the Persian Gulf bordering Iran...then through the narrow Straight of Hormuz...
Iran has already struck one tanker in the Straight of Hormuz...some articles saying it was one of their own...?????
Iran declaring no tankers will pass...so yea...1/4 of the world's crude oil can be held up...

as far as gas prices...they should go up...but I'm not going to quit pumping it into my car no matter how high it gets...

in fact...as oil goes up...everything should go up...groceries...commodities...energy bills...

America runs on shipping...

I owned a restaurant in Galveston for 28 years...
when we had a gas crisis many years ago...
one of my major suppliers...Sysco Foods...
put a gas surcharge on my deliveries for several months...to cover their gas delivery increases...

Yeah, hopefully oil will not go up to the $120+ per barrel level it reached in early 2022 during the previous administration ... which is probably a big part of the reason why groceries, commodities and energy bills are at the elevated levels they're at now.
