    Atlantic Egyptians

Hi lovely paint job on these Italian made figures I remember buying boxed sets of 1/32nd Atlantic as a kid from a toy shop in Bury, Lancashire in the 1970's and they had all the sets and historical periods. I remember having a US 7th Cavalry camp where one soldier was baking bread in an oven...

    Size of Ex Force ancients?

Hi I found the ACW EF figures ok as they fit in with hat, Airfix, Accurate, Imex, Marx , Britains Deetail & Eyes Right ok and in scale. Having compatability with other makers allows more variety to a diorama or wargame. In fact I need to buy some more of the EF infantry and cavalry sets...

Email response from Scott of Expeditionary Force

Hi, I like the EF 60mm figures and other makes currently out there, but I collect those figures matching the 1/32nd Airfix and Britains Deetail stature as these were the types of figures that I had as a kid and it seems to have remained with me ever since. 60mm was always a larger figure in...

Airfix Japanese ....best figures they made?

Hi Sandhurst - what colour do you use for the uniform - I always see different references for Japanese blanco - I know that the sun faded cloth and the steaming jungle heat rotted some garments. Regards Dave

Airfix Japanese ....best figures they made?

Hi - yes they are good figures to convert - I have converted them into German Colonial troops WW1 with tarboosh style head-dress made from modelling clay. Also ok for converting to British Infantry in Tropical areas with wearing the puttees. Thanks Dave

    Napoleons birthplace corsica visit

Hi I recently visited Corsica - to Ajaccio his town of birth, but I was surprised that I couldn't find any models of him and the 1st Empire soldiers in the many shops found there. Strange really as the place was full of tourists straight off the cruise ships in the harbour. If anyone speaks...

    WATERLOO 200th ANNIVERSARY 18th June 2015

Hi great layout Scott There are 5000 re-enactors, 300 horsed cavalry and 100 cannons on the field of Waterloo today staging a scaled version of the battle. There was one report that I saw earlier of British infantry marching through the farm at Hougoumont just as they probably looked 200...

    WATERLOO 200th ANNIVERSARY 18th June 2015

Hi anyone planning a layout of their figures to depict Waterloo in 1/32nd? British schoolchildren were taught about the battle for decades and there is still some interest about in the UK. All brave men on the day from all sides and a close run in the end. My favourites regiments one from...

Britains deetail german afrika korps conversions

Hi yes they are really well detailed and proportioned figures especially these WW2 types which I believe were sculpted by Ron Cameron in 1970-71. They can be easily converted and I dont even have to pin the parts together as this plastic glues solid. The good thing is that many that I convert...

Britains deetail german afrika korps conversions

Re: Britains deetail german afrika korps conversions - photos attached Hi photos attached - really straightforward job creating some variety to the standard poses. I have left the bases as was in original Deetail colours but I suppose they could be repainted and/or based...

Britains deetail german afrika korps conversions

Hi started work on these conversions mainly using the standard Britains Deetail German Infantry and German Afrika Korps and swopping the heads over. Quite easy really as this plastic type allows glueing without having to pin the two halves of plastic involved. The German Infantry boots I will...

Far from the madding crowd - sergeant troy

Hi I went with my wife to see FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD at the Cinema recently. The current movie has Sergeant Troy in a late Victorian British Heavy Dragoon uniform (as the fictitional 11th Dragoons). It was a good movie, but I prefer the original one made in 1967 with Julie Christie and...
