Armies in plastic new stuff upcoming?

And a very fine job too. When this option is there, why do people want another set without the neckcloths? I'd much rather have a set which can't be created by simple conversion like this - eg the Boxer Uprising Italians...though now I've said that, someone is going to post how they have made...

new pictures of up coming releases

Dan, I am not trying to 'reply', I am trying to access the website to see the pictures! Please ask your webmaster to look into it, as it looks like a couple of us may have been inadvertantly barred from access. If the webmaster contacts me at mike(dot)blakeuk(at)btinternet(dot)com I can send...

    OWN Chinese Nationalist Army

Steve W (plasticsoldiers.co.uk) goes indeed now have these figures in the UK - so you don't have to go to NY just to get them like I did! Can add that they are very greasy from mould release agents or whatever, but I found the 'over-night in vinegar and then a spray with kitchen cleaner' did...

new pictures of up coming releases

Dan I'd like to but the page refuses to open. I think you must have my ID barred in some way? Can you check for me please - I'd like to include the new stuff in Plastic News in Toy Soldier Collector. Hopefully you saw the very positive review of your Marines in a recent issue? If not, let me...

    Own figures chinese boxers 1900

The figures are great - just a shame everyone's idea of what Boxer looked like has been so badly distorted. The choice of colours on these figures means they are more like Imperial Chinese troops than Boxers. The Boxers were mostly peasants and working class, therefore dressed in simple...

    KnC Painted Plastics

Just received this from Andy Neilson Co-founder & Creative Director, King & Country about the new 60mm painted plastic figures: 'Hi Mike, good to hear from you and many thanks for the excellent review in the mag. much appreciated! At present our Alamo Mexicans still need a bit more work on...

    Engineer Bassevitch set 6 & 7

send the CC number in a separate series of emails. A phone call to a UK land line from the US is a few cents, a couple of dollars at most - google it if you want an exact cost. It will be a tiny proportion of what you are going to spend on plastic toy soldiers!!!

    Tiger Hobbies UK

How do you do a proper wash on plastic miniatures with acrylic paints?

That is a story we wrote of games recorded in our 'Annals of Pima County', used without acknowledgement! We have a whole series of inter-linked 'narrative campaign' stories of Old West games we've played. I have them all on the PC if you'd like to read some more! But we'd better do it by PM...

Guilty as charged. Glad you had such fun with the rules.

    Video 'Reviews'

Thanks Robin. Sadly this was an idea which was started with great enthusiasm but was not sustained. If you'd like more, bombard the editor, Rob Burman, at Collector's Gazette telling him so, robb@warnersgroup.co.uk . They were never publicised enough and so got too few hits it seems... partly...

    Video 'Reviews'

I should have mentioned these here when we first did them but forgot! A couple of video reviews of what are now not new pieces by WB, but you might want to take a look anyway if you haven't seen/got the models already - and also to have a chuckle at my poor presenter abilities. I do not expect a...

How do you do a proper wash on plastic miniatures with acrylic paints?

This is very odd! I have been using acrylics on all kinds of plastic figures for more years than I want to admit to and I have never had this problem! I can only conclude, like another response suggests, that the problem lies in a) not priming and/or b) the quality of the paint used. IMHO...

    Italeri Mamalukes

This is true Skeeterbuck. Indeed the figures I painted represent the unit of Mamalukes as it was in the Grande Armee. What I intend doing with them next is another group who will be more as they were in Egypt fighting the French - more conversions with lances, javelins and muskets, and on...

    Italeri Mamalukes

Thanks Chuck. And I found out a great deal about the originals along the way... knew almost nothing about them - they were really good fighters.

    Italeri Mamalukes

Thanks for the kind words. They were not easy to work with - the plastic is so hard. When I cut it with snips it broke and pinged off around the room! had to resort to sawing with a Dremel. That said they really are nice figures. I am really looking forward to doing the next batch, with a view...

    Italeri Mamalukes

Some of you who are also in the Little Wars DG may have already seen these, but there are some photos of WIP and finished figures I have just done at http://s654.photobucket.com/user/MikeBlake/library/Mamlukes. These must be some of, if not the, best figures Italeri did - really nice sculpts...
