“Bits ‘n’ Bobs” … “This ‘n’ That” from Andy

Andy, with regard to the T34/85, pics of your model seem to indicate the barrel having both a tube & jacket (see link). http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/row/gun_typical_heavy_001.gif I don't think the T34/85 gun sported a jacket. Bad lighting for the pic perhaps?

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

I meant CURRENT US Army & USMC

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

The greater concern is not the # of the tank, but having two with the same layout of bedspring 'applique' armour. The turret # can be handwaved away. The Soviets had hundreds of tank brigades, & they all had their own unique brigade identification. You could easily pass two or three K&C...

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

Yeah, modellers up until recently have been misled for decades wrt 'dark' soviet green. Only a few years ago, did Russian authorities publish the 4BO green in FS595b terms, which matches up to FS595 34102. It's a medium olive green, not unlike the current K&C T-34.

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

If, on the other hand, you are asking which is closer to Soviet olive green 4BO, the K&C is very close.

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

Brad, in addition to being a K&C collector, I'm also a hard core modeller & AFV researcher myself. If by -accurate- you mean color, there is no such thing. Not in the Soviet, German, or US army in WW2. There were different shades of everything. There are indeed paint chip standards for each...

    K&C T-34 (RA13) vs Britains 17497A through D

I don't have the K&C T-34 yet, so I can't put it side by side with the K&C Su-85 I have. But, that is very nice & marked appropriately for Berlin with the white band on top. You could ask if anyone wants to part with it.

    Good Suggestion for Andy

I had a look last night for you...the Fw190 book mentioned an ace who flew 20 combat missions with his dog, trying (in vain) to train him to look for the bad guy. In the Me109 book, there's a pic of another ace with a dachshund poking his head out of his flight suit...but does not specifically...

    The Old Normandy Village

I was wondering how many of you have pieces of the Old Normandy Village (iirc, NV01-NV08 or so). And of those people, how many of you painted it or left it in it's original 'burnt ash' kind of look?

    Question about retirement

Fair enough! This discussion is really unnecessary, off topic, & taking on a life of it's own which we ought to kill right now. This is supposed to be fun. I'll concede attitude to Andy. iirc, he's a former Marine turned artist, and you can't be a success at either without some attitude...

A Big Thank You to Andy

It seems like we're getting off on the wrong foot on the other thread. But I've always wanted to thank him (and now I can do that publicly) for deciding to produce the Berlin series. Normandy & the Bulge, and even the DAK are much safer bets, yet he decided to take a risk on a very obscure...

It's in one of the Osprey 'Aces' books. Either the Me109 or FW 190 (both Russian front).

    Good Suggestion for Andy

Any serious WW2 collector knows that K&C owns the farm. The phrase "figures that tell a story" is well earned. All the others are sterile by comparison. By the way, alot of German units (air & ground) had a dog as a mascot. That would be something new. Pilots even flew with dachshunds...

    Good Suggestion for Andy

No, 4K isn't really all that many employees. Aside from the CEO, I think we are the only two who collect. My friend was hired a year after me & took the job immediately when he found out I was a collector too. Luckily, I was on the dinner schedule that month!

    Question about retirement

Are you always this sarcastic to your customers? I don't think I was that far off & came to the conclusion by sheer observation. But, it is nice to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

    Question about retirement

Retirement doesn't mean anything. It's more or less a 'last call' at a bar. All of the items are produced & painted in one giant lot, not on a continuous basis. If it's a quick sell out & it's not a 'limited edition', K&C might do another small run if the economics are there (such as the...

    Good Suggestion for Andy

A friend & I were talking at work today wrt the market saturation of SS figs out there, and then he had a good idea. Let's keep the Grossdeutchesland going. France '40 has been done, and we have Barbarossa, Operation Blue, Kharkov '43, Kursk, & Poland/East Prussia. Just about any piece of...
