    Converting your own parts (sculpting)

I mentioned this on another part of the board. But I'm currently working on creating my first line of metal soldiers. I'm not an artist or sculpter, so I automatically knew that my prototype figures would be cut from the parts of other plastic or metal toy soldiers. In at least one case so far...

    Tips for casting.

Yes I have, they are harder to use than rubber molds. Your right, they must be well blackened to work right.

    Making your own mold

When you pour the second half of the mold, does the first half need to cure before the release agant is sprayed on?

    Making your own mold

When I tried to extract the figure from the latex it ripped. ut as you said, it probably would not have stood up to the white metal. I read this last posting and checked out the webpage, which has a ton of good info. This put me on the right path. Gene

    Dunkens Molds

Yea, thats a hazard of homecasting. But when it turns out right, it can be very rewarding. I love to take a figure from a lump of lead to a finished and painted figure. It can be awesome. Kinda like giving birth!

    100 Toy Soldiers!

Greetings, I've been a board member for a couple of months now. I'm a collector and a VERY small dealer. But I started up my online toy soldiers business, by bringing back the "foot locker" of toy soldiers. So I thought i would offer it here as well. You can view the "foot locker" of toy...

    Making your own mold

Re: Making your own mold OPINION NEEDED Ok, I'm experimenting. I was at a Hobby USA store and they were selling latex rubber for scenery use. The latex rubber is designed for mold making. I'm presently trying to create a mold, do you think I'll be abl to pour lead into it?

    Dunkens Molds

It sounds bad, but in reality, it was'nt that bad. Just really frustrating. I've only gotten burned once in the past by flying lead splatter. Not a big deal..just really hot! OUCH!!!!!!!

    Dunkens Molds

I knocked over..not one but two full pots last week. The lead spilled all over my work bench, through the cracks and onto the floor. Little frustrating. The pot that I bought from Dutkins sits on a small metal disk, not very stable. I did manage to get a few things molded. I think I need to...

    Making your own mold

I bought a really simple mold from Ebay. Its a white silicone mold of a small pine tree. I have to imagine, a mold like this would be easy to do. You would probably get a limited amount of figures out of it, but if you were doing a limited run, it would make te figures very unique. Gene
