“D.Day minus one” (1 Viewer)

I slight aside, from Dirty Little Secrets of WWII (Segment on the Pacific War):

"Those who had to use and take care of many trucks that were constantly hauling supplies and troops off the beach soon learned that the combination of salt water and fine sand drastically shortened the life of the normally robust army trucks everyone used. Among the other depredations, the brake shoes wore out in 10 days and the tires had to be replaced weekly if the vehicles were constantly on the beach. More than a month of use under those conditions would reduce many trucks to a state of uselessness..... By the end of the war, most supply officers accepted the fact that a truck with more then 25,000 miles on it was more trouble than it was worth in a combat zone."

Is it only me ? but to me it seems the trucks have no plastic winds-screen or windows
guy:)

Guy:

Can you tell from the pictures? I can't? And if there are no windscreens does that mean that the wipers are just freely hanging?

The photo was borrowed from an Italeri catalogue ?

I would rather have a Krupp Protze. The pre existing seating would make it easier to place passenger without having to find additional cartons and ammunition boxes for seating.

Maybe I should have said it was a grey truck it was only a protype no seats in the tray.

I am certain that Andy will take suggestions onboard if it goes to production particularly as he is inviting comments on the American truck.

It certainly got me interested and if he produces this I will be a purchaser of several it fits into my collection and as a new collector fills a void in my collection so hers hoping.

I am very much looking forward to US/ Soviet trucks. I think a driver needs to be added as well as multiple passengers. Please remember that the Morris variants were never supplied with passengers upon release.

ps I would love my BEF Morris to have some passengers

Hi Guys and...Guy,

You are correct Guy, the “Tinplate” vehicles do not have plastic windows – This is a new factory we are working with and their models come like this.

A very big plus however is that these models are “TOUGH” and very hard wearing. Quite a few years back when we produced our last open-topped “Deuce and a Halfs” the “ribs” on the back were pretty delicate and had to be handled with extreme care.

This particular factory had never worked in this size before but I am very pleased with the results so far...And yes, we’ve done the “Opel Blitz” as well...photos on Friday!

Best wishes & Happy Collecting!

Tin vehicles were dearly looked for by many of us as you can see by the notes....Given that I am more of a BEF and Axis collector, I will follow the releases closely and anxiously wait for the future offerings rolling out from the K&C assembly lines....CONGRATULATIONS:salute:::salute:::salute::

I'm curious why a missing windshield would make this a no vote ^&confuse It wouldn't stop me.

Re: “D.Day minus one”: Clarification Please

Hi Andy

great to see the tin trucks but I am curious:

1) Will the final versions have drivers ?

2) Will the final versions have "SEATING" in the tray to place passengers ?

3) Will there be more than three passengers provided to fill the trucks ? (US or German or Soviet options ?)

cheers

Hi Andy,

If the factory needs an inexpensive material to fashion windscreens out of, acetate sheets work great.

The only problem that I've found with it is that it can be "punched-out" of place more easily than some other, more rigid materials.

I like them! The M26 Recovery vehicle doesn't have windshields either. We need a fuel truck version in the future!

Jazzeum, I am a TS collector but a modeller and dio maker in the first place . All TSs I buy will finally end up in a dio. I am fortunate to have an international customer base , Belgian,British, French and German collectors buy my dios . They would never accept a truck without a wind-screen or without windows in a dio. This is the only reason I will not buy them.
