Today the 31st of October, 2025 we in the Military in the Land Down Under, especially the Royal Australian Armoured Corp celebrate and commemorate the 108th Anniversary of the Lighthorse Charge at Beersheba. On this day in 1917 two Regiments of 4th Brigade of Lighthorse (the 4th from the State of Victoria and the 12th from the State of New South Wales) charged the entrenched Turks in the town of Beersheba. Most Armoured Corp and Cavalry Messes celebrate this day with a Beersheba Day Dinner. My old Regiment the 4th/19th Princes of Wales Lighthorse do but due to health reasons I will not be attending this year.

I would like on this day to thank Andy Neilson of King & Country TS for 11 years of production of figures from that Battle, both Aussie and Turks. It commenced with 8 sets on the 21st December 2009 and retired on 10th June 2020 with the last set AL108. I still believe to this day that there should have been more to come but in the words of Ned Kelly "Such Is Life". I am proud to say that I have 265 sets of this series in my collection and still looking for more.

I sincerely hope that all the Forum members around the world who have K&C Lighthorse in their collection pause for a moment to reflect on this Great Charge and remember whose who lost their lives.

Cheers from the Land Down Under, Howard🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲

Howard,

I am so sorry to hear you are having health problems, cobber! I will take a moment to remember and reflect upon your courageous forebears.

Your old mate, Lou
