Gentle Friends,
Like several other OTSN attendees, I took a few photos of the many miniature military treasures that could be found at the show. However, the manner and timeliness in which I take my photos might differ from the method others employ. For example, I usually take no photos until the Saturday afternoon of room trading. The reason I wait is twofold. For the first couple days of room trading, I am too busy searching for treasure that I cannot/will not be bothered by taking photos. However, waiting until Saturday results in a number of items having been sold, removed from the rooms, and therefore, cannot be photographed. For those missing items, you must rely on others to supply the appropriate photos.
Secondly, I find that carrying a camera with me during the room trading limits how much I can safely carry and when I am engaged in serious "power shopping," I do not want any distractions such as keeping up with my camera. Also, the presence of my camera either in my hand or hung from my shoulder provides a hazard while examining figures. It is easy for the camera to swing from my shoulder strap and knock down figures. And, after all, I want to buy figures that are undamaged rather than buy figures I have just damaged.
When Saturday afternoon arrives, I have usually done most of my shopping except for what I might find during the official show on Sunday. Consequently, I grab my camera and set off for the rooms in which some of my favorite figures have been for sale. Doubtless, wandering from one favorite room to another favorite room limits the variety of items I photograph. On the other hand, so many of our good and generous forum members provide photos of some of the most popular rooms, themes, dioramas, and manufacturers that I do not think forum viewing of the event is hindered to any great degree.
I should also point out that my present schedule is full to the brim and the time I have available for posting photographs is quite limited. I plan to post photos as my time permits and, therefore, there will be delays between my postings. If nothing else, perhaps the delays will provide a means to enjoy the show for a longer period of time. At least, I hope that is the case.
The first series of photos was taken in the Treefrog room. If you attended the event, you will easily recall seeing what is contained in my photos. If you could not attend the event, then my photos should provide a glimpse of the many wonderful things that were available for sale.
At this point, let me simply say, "Enjoy the photos" and watch this space. More photos will appear as I have time to post them.
Warmest personal regards,
Pat
Photo 002 - A couple of wonderful WWI airplanes.
Photo 003 - Some very nice King and Country goodies.
Photo 004 - A row of beautiful John Jenkins mounted Eastern Indians. You might note some terrific Niena figures in the background. Unfortunately, the lighting hindered my ability to get a good photo of these impressive figures.
Photo 005 - If you like First Legion figures, you have to be impressed with these. Take your pick of either French or German forces. Better yet, take both groups of figures and maximize your hobby pleasure.
Photo 006 - Two more great WWI airplanes.
Shortly, I will post a few more photos, so watch this space!
Warmest personal regards,
Pat
