2020-2021 Hot Stove League (2 Viewers)

The Pirates who are 31.5 games out of first are playing a series with AZ who are 38.5 games out of first. Collectively 70 games out of first. I bet social distancing is going on at that game with 8 fans in attendance.

I tuned in the Pirates game to learn that Aug. 29 is "Free Kids Lunch Bag" game. Saddle up the mule ma. They are giving away a free lunch bag. That will increase attendance from 8 to 12 people.

Happy Birthday to O's all-time HoF great Cal Ripken, born 8/24/60. Miss you, Cal. -- Al

The Giants and Dodgers only play one more series this season.

I jeep thinking those games will decide the fate of the NL, then I think about the Brewers......

Baseball is such a great game!

The Dodgers just swept the Padres in an epic series. They have now won something like 16 out of the last 18 games but made up little ground on the Giants who never seem to lose. I can't remember the disparity ever being so great between the top teams and the bottom dwellers. The Dodgers have massacred the lower tier teams.

O's just wrapped up their season series with the Devil Rays with a 12-8 loss. The O's went 1-18 against the Rays, outscored 151-72. Glad that's over with. -- Al

Al...
those are some pretty depressing stats for an O's fan...

Indeed. Mike, the really depressing numbers come with our starting pitching. The O's have used many SP's this season. Records of these SP's are atrocious... 6-14, 6.18 ERA...3-14, 6.14 ERA...1-8, 7.26 ERA...0-7, 7.25 ERA...2-7, 7.47 ERA. Our best pitcher, John Means, is 5-6 with a 3.46 ERA, but has missed a large part of the season and only has 20 starts. Lot of work to be done with the SP's.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al...
yea...
that's a scary crew to pick a favorite on...
hope your bullpen is better than that...

The Giants have lost 2 in a row, the Dodgers have lost 2 in a row.

Both teams’ seem have have the uncanny ability to win or lose whenever the other does the same.

Next weekend’s series will probably decide the NL West.

As talented as the Dodgers are this season, I not feeling it. They most likely end up in second in the west. And they will be the #4 seed in the MLB's playoff format. They have the talent to win it all but I'm not counting on it.

Tampa has beaten Baltimore 18 out of the 19 times they have played this year.

I just looked that up...
TB Rays only average 8,500 attendance in 2021...
3rd from the bottom in attendance...
no fan support...
they must not like baseball in Florida...

That's not the worst part; 8,483 of them are fans of the visiting team.

What a joke of a franchise.

Yet their farm system is loaded and they keep finding charcoal on other teams that turn into diamonds once they trade for them.

The A’s have the worst stadium in MLB and the Rays have the worst fans. Both have some of the lowest payrolls too.

Yet every year they are at the very least competitive, and more often times than not they are in the playoffs.

They have both proven that stadiums, fans and even money doesn’t matter.

Scouting and management clearly does…….

I think the Giants’ implosion has begun.

Negative much?

Even if the Dodgers pass them, which will probably take place because of their incredible load of talent, the Giants have a 14 game lead on the next WC; the Giants are going to be in the playoffs and host a WC game.

I am just being realistic and honest.

The Dodgers are now in first place.

For 119 days the Giants were in first place, while never having more than a 5 game lead. The Dodgers were able to keep pace with them despite suffering major injuries/roster issues including the loss of there No. 1 starter (who they have not had since July 1, and who they will not have the rest of the year).

The Giants will make the playoffs and host a WC game. However, eventually they will probably face those same Dodgers and/or the Brewers who just beat them handily in three straight games, at Oracle Park.
