Al...

I thought you were embellishing a bit...:rolleyes2:
but I caught some of the Red Sox/Mets game on ESPN this afternoon...
a real nail biter...10-1 in the 5th...
those canary yellow jerseys...blue caps, yellow leggings and white shorts are not the best combo...
but...they seem to be on a good win streak wearing them...so...expect to see more of them I bet...

The Boston Athletic Association, or the BAA, runs the Boston Marathon, their colors are yellow and light blue, this is the color combination at the finish line of the Marathon, the Red Sox are wearing them as a tribute to the BAA is all.

The shirts, tops and caps are selling like mad, younger fans have really taken to them, they wore them on Patriots Day weekend when the Marathon is traditionally held...............................they rolled them out again now for some reason.

The Nat's Juan Soto is making a push to have his name taken seriously in the MVP discussion. The Nat's lousy season will probably torpedo any realistic chance but Soto is doing his best to make it a contest. Soto's OBP since the All-Star break is around .520 and he is having an unbelievable September so far. Through the first 4 AB's in tonight's game, he has reached base 10 straight times over the last 3 games, 7 hits (3 Hr's, 2 2b's), 3 BB's. He leads the NL in BA. with a .325 avg., and at this point he is hitting .467 in Sept. with an OBP of .605. He may lose out to Harper or Tatis, but he will get some votes. -- Al

doesn't matter what you wear if you're on a winning streak like they are now...
I had my tv "color settings" on "vivid"...
those jerseys were really bright...

Soto's current OBP is now .470 for the season while his WAR is 7.2, both stats lead MLB, as does his .325 BA. MVP not unreasonable. Also, Soto currently has 50 career games in which he has reached base 4 times, before the age of 23, second most all-time in MLB, behind only Ted Williams with 54 such games. In a down season for the Nats, Soto has made watching the games bearable. -- Al

Orioles 49-104.....45 games out, have giving up over 900 runs, please just let it end.......I wonder in my lifetime will I see my beloved Orioles ever compete for a World Series again??...I'm 54 years old and time is ticking by!!

Sammy, good things are on the way for the O's. Their farm system is in great shape and they have a good core of players. Just need to get the pitching squared away. Maybe another season or two until they can make a run again. The AL East won't have the O's to kick around for much longer. -- Al

I hope so Al, matter of fact a few months ago a customer and his wife showed up in my Meat department wearing a Orioles hat and we struck up some small talk..long story short nice guy from Maryland and goes to many Orioles farm club games, He swears to me by 2024 we will be in the AL East hunt..😳 so I hope you both are correct!!! Be nice to be competitive again.

The Cards 13 game winning streak has made a shambles out of the once close NL WC race. Up by 5 games with only 9 left, it looks like a dead lock. Now to see to the AL WC race which still has 4 teams within 4 games of the last spot, with the NYY's currently having the last spot by 1 game, but a potential race changing series with Boston this weekend. Should be fun. -- Al

Soto is still reaching base. He's walked in his first two AB's in tonight's game in Cinncy, meaning his consecutive on base streak is now at 12 (7 hits, 5 BB). The all-time record is 17, set back in 1893. Ted Williams had 16 straight in '57. -- Al

Reds finally got Soto out. He went 0-2 but his OBP still went up as he drew 4 walks and scored 3 times in the 8-7 loss. -- Al

Soto is going to get a huge pay raise in a few years, if the Nats do not feel like paying up I think he’d look good in a Giants uniform. ^&grin

Jason, as you might imagine, the Soto future contract is a huge point of discussion here in DC. Most fans seem to think the Lerners are too cheap to sign Soto to the big money he will command. This is based on a real past history of losing Harper and Rendon, but doesn't take into account the big money spent on Scherzer and Strasburg. I feel the Lerners will back up the Brinks truck but it will ultimately be up to Soto to stay or go, just as Rendon was going to leave regardless of the contract offer, it depends on whether Soto is happy here. I have no real objection to Soto in SF if it plays out that way, but please make sure you all burn those Orangesicle unis first. ^&grin -- Al

Soto is at it again v the Reds tonight. Game is in the 4th and he is 1-1 with 2 BB's. He has now reached base in 17 of his last 19 PA's. Now has 137 BB's this season against only 85 k's. -- Al

Al:

Agreed, 100%, those Orangesicle uniforms are beyond awful.

Maybe after they win the World Series the marketing department can have a meeting where they ban those awful things forever.

Been watching the Sox and NYY's this weekend and have come to the conclusion that Judge and Stanton make a pretty fair 3-4 combination when they are both on, as they have been this series. Just watched Stanton destroy another ball, went over the sign on top of the Green Monster. That thing got small, fast. The broadcast just showed the stat that Stanton was the first NYY with 10 RBI's in a 3 game series at Fenway. -- Al

The Giants best hitter, Brandon Belt, is now out with a fractured thumb.

Now, if they somehow hold on to win the Division, I will start to believe that they truly are a team of destiny.

Ok, getting demolished three strait vs the Gashouse Gorillas I can sort of understand, but up 2-0 with Sale on the mound.................and they lost to the broken toilet of a team called the LET'S GO O'S!!??

This team is done, finished, over, toast, fried, dyed and laid to the side.

They're not getting into the playoffs and even if they do, they'll be one and done to the gashouse gorillas.

The Dodger will likely finish the season with around 105 wins and not win their own division. They could be gone in one game in the playoffs. All the pressure will be on them to win that one and done game. Going against the top pitcher of whoever they face. Anything can happen in a single game.

nah...you're good...you sure got the better pitcher tonight with Eovaldi...
and then close the season with a 3 game series against 65-93 Washington...
Red Sox will get there...
if the Blue Jays and the Red Sox were to tie...who gets the tie breaker?

We had the better pitcher last night, Sale vs some tomato can with a noodle arm who couldn't break a pane of glass with his fastball, he looked like Cy Young vs the Red Sox last night.

In the event of a tie, I believe it's a one game playoff to advance to the one game wildcard game.
