2020-2021 Hot Stove League (2 Viewers)

The A’s were eliminated from the playoffs last night.

As mentioned over and over I am a Giants fan but respect Oakland for being competitive year in and year out despite having no stadium and no payroll.

To put it more simply, they play in the worst stadium/arena in North American professional sports. And more importantly, the Dodgers have 2 useless players, Trevor Bauer and David Price, who made as much as the entire opening day payroll of the A’s this year.

the Astros are struggling to clinch their division...
need one game to clinch...
and are 1-5 in their last 6 outings...
bats have gone silent...

Red Sox lose two out of three to the ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN LOSS LET'S GO O'S!!!!................

My God.

Just gutless to lose to a broken toilet of a team like that; some stiff tonight with a 7.61 ERA looked like Cy Young out there.

Much like 2011, the RS season died in Baltimore.

They are tied with Seattle for the second WC spot, now have the Nationals in Washington.

They are done.

Thanks a lot LET'S GO O'S!!, who will now get demolished by the Jays.

That pitcher who looked like Cy Young is named Wells and is one of 30 rookie status pitchers that the O's have tried this year. I believe 30 rookies is a record. They have used 43 different pitchers, so far. :rolleyes2: -- Al

The Sox are crashing and burning at the wrong time. Unless the Rays spank the Yanks, it looks like three teams will be fighting for the last spot. Right now my money would be on Seattle.

There's never a good time to crash and burn, but here we are.

Imagine they got swept at home to open the season by these stiffs, now lost 2 out of 3 to effectively end their season.

Losing 5 of 6 to a 107 loss team is disgraceful.

Infuriating.

It feels like the Dodgers have barely lost a game in the last month or two but haven't picked up any ground on the Giants. Both teams are having an incredible run. 105 and 103 wins at this point. The Dodgers-Padres was touted as the new rivalry out west but the McNuggets really went bad.

Yep. Watching SF and LA has been really entertaining. No one wants to lose and they don't. Only thing is, only one of them can win in the end (assuming no one else crashes the party, such as the Cards, Braves, or Brewers). SD has to be the biggest bust of the season, along with the NL East in general. SF has had it's foot on the gas all season and has never let up, so maybe they are the favorites, but that LA pitching staff is a huge plus in a post-season series. -- Al

OK, who fires their manager first? SD because of a disaster of a season when they were favs for the WS, or NYY's, if they succeed in choking away their season after also being WS favs? -- Al

Boone isn’t going anywhere. If you’re going to blame anyone, blame Cashman. However, a NY manager will be gone on Monday.

Boston is doing it's best to catch NY. Houck is perfect through 5 and leads 1-0. Nats look helpless. -- Al

What a last game of the season this is going to be. 4 teams still battling for the 2 WC positions. Play ball! -- Al

The Nats will be doing their 'best' to help the Sox into the playoffs. In this most important of games, the Nats are pitching a AA call-up named Joan Adon, who had an ERA over 6 while in Single A and over 5 in AA. Sorry to the NYY's for this travesty, but it looks like you are going to have to win it yourselves and not count on any help from the Nats. Going to be worth watching... -- Al

so the Nats are bringing in their ace huh...lol?
^&grin

We have the potential for a four way playoff but I think the chances are slim. I can’t see the Yankees getting swept. However, I think either the Yankees or Red Sox will lose and either the Mariners or Jays will win so there could be a playoff.

The Rays wanted to send a message this weekend and did so and having done that they may take it easy today.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter who wins the WC because the Rays will beat them and I can’t see the Rays losing to the Astros or the White Sox.

It's a trap! Actually, the Nats have no ace, unless you want to count Corbin, who is 9-16 with a 5.82 ERA. Used to be those kind of numbers found you flipping burgers ever after.:rolleyes2: -- Al

Al...
you're funny today...
but...like you know...
you still gotta play the game and anything can happen...
the Nats have already done their part in scaring teams straight last week...
if it wasn't football weekend...
I would watch that game...

All the games start the same time today, 305 EST. It may be the last regular season games we may see for awhile as there may be a work stoppage next year.

Tomorrow = Manager firing day.

Baseball sure has an odd sense of humor. Adon, in his major league debut (and only his 5th start above A level baseball) held the Sox to 2 runs while fanning 9 over 5.1 innings. Nats lead 5-2 after 6 but all is not lost for Boston as long as the Nats bullpen is involved. -- Al
