30mm napoleonics (3 Viewers)

Joe,
I think thats one of the best comments you could have said about this thread. Glad I was able to show you something new, Though it is one of the oldest forms of toy soldiers in history. Thank you as well for the compliment on my limited photographic skills.

more pics from BZ...

Ray, my treat..............enjoy........Joe

Thanks for the fine photos of the Civil War figures and scenery. They look great. I wish I could paint flats like that. I enjoy the flat trees and usually get some at shows. Thanks for posting. John

Hi John,
I wish I could paint this well too, my hand is still steady enough to do some really fine detail but thats really not where the art is. The blending and shading is just something I'm not grasping in oils, I plan to take a course in oil painting the next semester to see if it can get thru my thick skull!
Ray
The second picture is really pretty amazing, the figures are no more than 1" to 1-1/4" tall and someone has painted the Mona Lisa to scale!

So I was debating wether to start a new thread on this Plancenoit project but I think I'll just keep all the flats together here. Here are the 2 primary buildings from the famous painting. Some "Artistic License" as the full buildings are not shown and I'm new to the media I'm building in. Plus I made to fence and gate pieces.

The buildings are really cool, are they full models? Card? where did you get them from. I think something like this would go down a treat in 54mm and would certainly help keep the cost down :D Thanks for sharing your collection with us always a pleasure to see what you are up to.

Hello BF,
thank you for the comments, Yes the buildings a paper or cardstack, these aer full models in 30mm printed out on my home printer on 100 lbs. paper. Seemed the perfect fit, flat figures and flat paper models!! The site is a wargaming site with lots of paper, most talk of how to scale down as far as 6mm for wargaming, but I'm sure some of the smart people here could tell you the proper percentages to scale up as well. There dirt cheap programs, some free (how's $5-6.00 for a building?) and many have exterior finishing option so you have limited options to modify your exteriors. the 2 primary Plancenoit buildings are just that, heavily modified to fit what I wanted.

Here is part of another parcel I recieved this week, some additional Russian guard emperors regiment Curraissers and a figure of Murat's narrow escape from another painting/incident

Ray, very nicely done on your latest project. The buildings are perfect for your flats, and each shows the other off very nicely.

You've got quite a collection!
