54mm Viking (2 Viewers)

Hello everyone,

I finally got some time to work on a painting project that I've been itching to do. Many months ago I bought several 54mm white metal Viking castings. They are from Miles Publius' Runecraft range. I just started in on my favorite one, a particularly menacing looking figure. Pictures are attached of my early progress showing the primed piece, painting of the fur, and painting of the cloak. I've provided multiple pictures of the cloak in an effort to show the process of how I slowly built up the color of the cloak with different dilutions of shadow/base/highlight colors applied in thin coats.

I plan on working on the figure on the upcoming weekends and will update this thread with more pictures as I move through the process. I hope you enjoy!

Today I worked on the studded leather shin and forearm armor. As I like to do, I went for an aged look with the leather. I also painted the under-garment and did a little base coating here and there. Next weekend I plan on painting the chain mail, belt and straps. I'd like to work on the scabbard too if there's time. It's getting there and I hope you like it!

I'm back again having just finished working on the chain mail. It's starting to come together now. Still remaining to be painted are the helmet/visor, eyes, braids, fingers, gambeson, belt, straps, buckles, spear, scabbard, sword handle, shoe tips/heels, groundwork, and touch-ups all the way around. I started undercoating the spear blade and helmet but ran out of time today. I'll try to get back to it next weekend, and will post an update. Thanks for looking in!
